I am guessing you mean in Daz Studio?
Have you watched the videos here: http://www.daz3d.com/help/help-daz-3d-video-tutorials You can access them through the Help menu in Studio as well. Go to the video page and select to watch the one on Scene building and it will show you how to load a dumpster at about 3:17 and then the different ways to move it around.
Ya I have watched all of them and have seen them actually click on the object and move it. But the explanation is for a previous version of Daz and I can't find the same button in the current version.
It is exactly the same in the latest version too. What can't you find? Is it the Translate tool, it should be on your top toolbar, but you can still get to it by pressing 'Alt+Shift+T'
Okay thank you! I don't know what I am doing wrong but I will try the alt shift t. Its the little things in life...... lol.
Can you post a screen cap of you screen so we can see what your looking at to further help you out.
Okay I had a look at the translate tool (and apparently I am just blind because there it was, right where it was supposed to be lol) That works to move the body parts around by click and grab (which is great and will be most useful) but it doesn't work to click and drag an object across the scene. If I want to say, drag a flower pot from point a to point b, I still have to use either the sliders or click and hold the arrows down to move things. which is an interesting process since one can only go one direction at a time. Does that make any sense at all?
I'm not sure that I can do a screen shot that will describe what I am trying to do.
Okay I think I figured it out. If you click exactly in the middle of the box that pops up with the arrows and circle you can drag the prop across the screen. otherwise, it bends and twists it but doesn't actually move it. Going to experiment a bit more and see if works on everything.
You should be able to click and drag the tips of one of the arrows to move the object along that axis. Make sure you have the root node of the object selected, not like the arm or something, otherwise you are just moving the arm and changing the pose rather than moving the entire object.
Another way to move items is to type the numbers in directly...in the Translations are of the Property tab/pane. If you want to move 100 units 'right', click the X-axis, where the numbers are, instead of using the slider. That will allow you to edit the number directly. Just type in 100 and it will move 100 (cm, I believe it is) to the right...-100 will move it left (same goes for the Y and Z axis...up/down, front/back). This can be used to 'zero' in an item or get it more precisely positioned (decimals are allowed).
Also, click on the item in your scene tab so the whole object is selected. If you use the translate or universal manipulator, you can move by clicking on one of the white triangles to move on two axes. http://prntscr.com/8omnbu
Thank you everyone! That will make things much easier and quicker. Still so much to learn, even the basic stuff! If I didn't need my job to buy more stuff. I mean feed my family, I might be able to devote more time to it lol.
