Hi!
Just to let you know Vertigo Tower is about to release the next days. :)
The name is perfect and some of your renders triggered my vertigo
Yeah, vertigo, fear of falling, and a deep admiration for all those who work on them or any place with heights. Now to figure out how to use it without freaking out.
Looks like a perfect background for a James Bond fight scene...
Hehe, thanks guys, happy to read the set has the intended effect. ;)
It´s inspired by the movie "Fall".
While working on it, I was a bit worried it might have a somewhat limited usage range.
But once finished I had a ton of ideas for various action scenes.
Kinda had to hold back doing the preview renders. ;)
The tower and its environment look great! They went straight into my cart.
The set could also be well suited for steampunk scenes.
I have a feeling that my daughter would be ejecting her last meal over her screen next to me if I were to use it. Simply too real... Reminds me of a 1000ft high TV mast that featured in one of the 'Massive Engineering Mistakes' episodes. Wish I could risk using it, but I don't think so.
Regards,
Richard
@caravelle Thanks! Steampunk sounds like a good fit too!
@richardandtracy Haha, I´ll file that under "my most unexpected yet flattering lost sale". ;)

I grabbed it too. Would also be great for post-appocolypse stories.
Thanks nomad!
Yes, the tower could make for a good hideout or lookout in such settings.
This is a great set and offers opportunities for areial shots as well, such as flying aircraft, superheroes etc.
Thanks nabob21! Ops, I remember at some point I wanted to mention aerial shots in the product description, but forgot about it. ;)
Hello,
A couple of months ago, I got 'First Light Skydome and HDRI' (FLSH) and yesterday, I got 'FMA Over the Sea HDRIs and Skyspheres' (FMA). From my untrained eyes, both products have the same function (loading an HDRI to create nice scenes high in the sky) but for a reason I don't understand, they are not working in the same way.
With FLSH, I click on 'FMEE First Light SkyEnv Iray' in an empty scene and the Tonemapper Options and Environment Options are created. Then, if I'm activating Iray preview, I directly see the HDRI.
With FMA, clicking in any Iray related icons with an empty scene, the Tonemapper Options and Environment Options are not created so activating Iray preview only shows the default HDRI. Once the two Options items are created, clicking on any Iray related icons, the intended HDRI will replace the default one.
It's not the end of the world and it is a minor inconvenience, but one I don't understand: looking at the tooltip, both products are using 'preset_render_settings'.
And looking at the log, I don't really see a difference (there is a warning but with FLSH, the product creating the two Options items)
FLSH:
FMA:
I didn't look at the content of the .duf file, I know how to change some elements inside some of them (mostly to fix path mistakes), but preset_render_settings are not something I understand well enough.
Does someone knows how to change FMA to make its presets creating the Tonemapper Options and Environment Options if they don't exist ? Or is there a good reason not to create them automatically ?
@Elor
Hi! Thanks for the purchases!
I looked into this, but tbh. I am a bit lost, as I can´t replicate the behaviour you are describing.
First Light is the older of the two sets, I don´t think it has any Tonemapper Settings (or at least they stay on the defaults when I load it).
Over the Sea has Tonemapper Settings and simply loads them when I click it.
Both have to load their Environment Settings, the HDRI is part of that.
When I start a scene, lets say in Textured Preview, and load a HDRI from Over the Sea, Tonemapper and Environment Options are added to the scene overview.
As soon as I switch to Iray Preview, the HDRI shows and I can also see the changed Tonemapper settings.
May I ask, what do you mean by "Once the two Options items are created". Created how?
If I am not mistaken, they are always there as part of Iray´s Render Settings. It´s just that they don´t show in the scene overview unless you switch to Iray.
For me, when I create a new scene, the tone and environment setting don't show up in the scene tab until I do a render. Maybe that is what Elor is referring to?
Which Drawstyle are you using? Iray will create all settings nodes, Filament as I recall at least some, other modes will not by themselves create the nodes.
Yes, my scene tab is empty when I create a new scene.
Then, after using 'FMEE First Light SkyEnv Iray', the Tonemapper Options and Environment Options will appear in the scene tab, but when I'm using one of the presets from FMA, nothing change on the scene tab and the default HDRI is loaded if I'm using Iray preview. But once I have the two Options items visibles, using any preset from FMA will make the correct HDRI appear in Iray preview.
But after reading your message, @Flipmode, I tested with other versions of Daz Studio and it's likely a bug of Daz Studio 4.21 (on MacOS and Windows): I tested with the latest beta on my Mac, and with Daz 4.22.0.19 on a Windows machine, in all cases, both products made the Tonemapper Options and Environment Options appear and worked exactly the same: an Iray preview after loading either products directly showed me th correct HDRI.
I didn't think it could be a bug of Daz Studio (I had the same problem with other products last year and when I opened a ticket with Daz, they saw the same behaviour as me and said they would contact the PA -- time to tell them to close the ticket I guess explaining it's likely a bug that they fixed with one version of Daz 4.22) but I'm sorry I didn't think of testing with various versions before And thank you for your answer
All good, I am glad it´s kinda solved. ;)
Thanks nabob and Richard for helping! :)
Hello Richard,
Sorry, I didn't see your message before posting mine.
It's the same situation as the one we spoke about a year ago (here) but thank to Flipmode's answer, I now know that in both situations, it's a bug in Daz Studio 4.21.0.5 which is solved by using a more recent version.
Hi there!
A little Addon for Vertigo Tower is on it´s way, adding Storm and Sunset.
The HDRIs/Skyspheres can be used without owning the main set.
I hope you like it. :)
