If one 3080Ti renders in 3 mins, will two 3080Ti renders in 1.5 mins?

Probably not exactly 1.5 mins because there has to be a bit of time spent on handling distribution of work between the two cards. But it should be faster than using one.

So it would take longer than 1.5mins?

    A bit longer, yes.

I used to have two RTX 2080 cards on my old system, and it was exactly like Leana suggests: it pretty much halved the render time for me. The extra overhead is mainly CPU load as the data has to be transferred twice, but we're talking a few additional seconds. So in your scenario, it might take 1min 45sec instead of 1min 30sec. It also works in Blender for Cycles renders.

On my newer system I had two RTX 3090 cards running for a while, and the same render speed increase applied.

If you can afford it, and your system can handle it, try it out - you'll be amazed.

Thank you all for your information.
It confirms my other issues of using 3080 ti with my 3060...
since I have to buy a new psu, if I wanted to use both.
Since it will only safe a fraction of seconds.
I can now consider wether it's worth it or not.
