I'm working on that now. I didn't notice it as much when it was full screen last night. I probably shouldn't render so close to bedtime. When I looked at the picture, after I read your comment, I knew I needed to fix Noodles so that he was more visible. Thanks!! I would also like Noodles to show up more in the thumbnail picture. Right now, you can't even see there is a cat in the thumbnail.
Argh, another render for the trashcan
Fortunately i have read the ToS, before i have post it. I have directed the beam to the Head of the victim, but i think thats a clear transgression to the violation rule, so i have to render again.
I'm not sure how that rule actually plays out, have you seen the promo images for thee genesis "severed man"?? http://www.daz3d.com/severed-man
Shinji, I like the second version better, the glowing eyes are a nice focus place, the menace is there for the viewer withouth the need to think about the strange bulk in the back. Only change I would suggest is to move the fallen comrade a bit further back towards the pipes. It would look like that beast is done with that one now letzt focus on the next one. This has developed really nice.
I made some adjustments to my second image. This is in Iray, no postwork. All of the changes I made to the first render were all inside Daz. I am figuring out how to do all kinds of things. I darkened Noodles coat, changed the colors slightly on the energy ball, and gave Noodles his own light. Let me know what you think.
wow this is not my day I tell ya none of my pictures wanna upload today not event to photobucket!
I like the idea of the western scene. This looks like its coming along well.
Title: Trouble in Paradise
Software: DAZ Studio 4.8
Postwork: none
I had a dream the other night, and this is the result. I think the scene is pretty much self explanatory, but basically, the male and female rabbits lost their warren (some kind of bunny home foreclosure). So, they had to set off looking for a new place for their not so little family. They stumbled upon an old tree that had fallen over and landed next to the pond. It had been sitting there for many, many years and had started to sink a little into the soft, lush ground. They hopped into the open end of the tree and made their way down to the other end of the trunk, Mr. bunny taking the lead. They couldn't believe their eyes as they gazed out into the beautiful scene in front of them. Lots of vegetation everywhere that would provide great shelter. The duck pond looked so inviting to them, but rabbits have great hearing and pretty good sight too, and up in the sky there soared a hawk, one of the bunnies worst enemies! They must wait till the sun goes down before they make a move.
I started working of this scene about a week ago after I discovered the other scene I was going to do needed the dynamic clothing plugin which I can't afford right now. So, I have been focused on this. I rendered in iray as I very much like the results. I can get a good idea how the render will look after a few minutes then there will be a rough grainy display. I have the atmosphere cube tutorial from Sickleyield in my scene. At the moment, I am getting a nice haze going into the distance through the valley. I knew in my mind how I wanted it to look but I didn't have a tree that would work. As luck would have it, there was a new release called The Fallen Tree. This seemed perfect for my needs. I did have to modify it a little as there were some problems with scaling but I fixed it using the Joint Editor in DAZ.
The lighting took a LOT of searching online for different ways of doing it. I tried using the Sun and Sky only to start with. This worked, but was a pain to get the sun coming in to get the shadows that I wanted in the correct place in the scene, inside the tree stump. I used 12:00PM, 1:00PM... 2:00PM all the way through but it still didn't give the control that I wanted. I found the best method for me was to create my own "sun" using iray emission on a mesh. This worked great! I put a very light blue tint to simulate sunlight. I also experimented using planes to get additional effects. This is what I am currently working on. I have really enjoyed working on this.
I have attached my latest render... I stopped it part way through so I could get something posted here.
The one with the eyes. I love the eyes
I agree
Pretty cool. How did you lighten up that background behind the cat? Is that a billboard with a light on it? It works. Its a fun scene, it reminds me of Kiki's Delivery Service.
Nice, you have a lot going on in the scene, a lot of detail to explore. I've not been able to figure out Sun and Sky yet, but I do use emissive mesh when I can. I haven't even tried using planes beyond a billboard, or tried to simulate water - I guess thats next for me If I were to change anything in the scene I would up the haze a litte, or at least get it to where the hawk/eagle is slightly dimmer.
This is really a geat idea. But I think Noddled is still a bit to dark. You could try to move the direction his light is coming from so its more from the right side. Instead of giving him more light you could try to move the background so that he is all in the reddish place and comes mainly as a silouette.
Here's my latest of my second WIP.
Maybe someone can give these a peek and tell me what i am doing wrong as to uploading them into the forum??

Mhh please delete this entry
Holy shit, that's hard stuff, maybe i should try to post my render. If the result against the ToF, a mod should delete it.
In this try, i use the bloom setting for the first time. I am not really happy with the result. The Beam came out great, but the background was to blur.
yes these r the ones plus a few others that will not even load in photobucket
Thak you so much for the very useful info on how to attach my pics Kismet!!!
This is the only other one I could upload to photobucket so now you see my delima with which one to choose!!
Any suggestions would be great!!!
We do prefer it if images for contests are attached, using the comment box, as then we can collect the image location from the thumbnails to make up the judging thread in the easiest way.
Joe, that is just a standard backdrop that came with one of the lightsets I bought. One of Innaneglory's point and shoot sets. A primitive plane would probably also work. I just plugged a .jpg into the diffuse chanel of the backdrop. Then I pointed a spotlight at the sun in the backdrop so, yes, the backdrop has it's own light.
Making some slight modifications and will have another render up soon.
@Chohole When I try to upload them right to the forum through ATTACH A FILE and they will not do it!!
so if you have any suggestions on how I can ATTACH it right to the forum it would br great .
I can't understand why you are having a problem. Save your image in whatever folder you use on your hard drive. Then click on Attach a file, browse to where you have stored the image on your computer and then double click it to attach it to the post, or select it and click open to attach it, whichever you prefer. Most people use a jpg format to save the image, and I see that is the format you are using. Sometimes it doesn't work first time, and you get a broken icon, as I did here, so just try again.
Once you have the image attachment thumbnail, click on it to bring it up to full size, then right click on it and from that screen click on "copy image location" Then go to this tool on thw WYSYWIG tool box
Click on there and enter your URL in the URL line here
Make sure the width is no greater than 800 and then post it. You don't need to use the Link tab, as Kismet said, because that is for turning your images into hyperlinks, so they link the image to a different page. As I have done with my signatuire image. If you click on my signature image it will take you to another forum, (I wonder if anyone will guess which one.)
I'm still playing with the lighting. Iray did something funny with some of the settings on Noodles and I had to go in and fiddle with his glossy roughness and his glossy layered weight on his fur. Every time I put a light on him, he did nothing but absorb light, didn't reflect anything!! I finally managed to get him looking like this with the lighting cranked up. Now I just have to adjust the lighting and render a few times until I get something that hightlight Noodles, but doesn't mess up the other lighting. I, also, move his light behind him so it kind of looks like the light is coming from the sun in the backdrop. But, I think Noodles is looking better. I also adjusted everyone's position slightly so that Noodles in more in the water section than the shadowed shore section. I just have to get his stupid light at the right intensity now.
I do quite like that bloom effect, I like the effect it's had on the light rim around your main character. One thing I would say is should the beam actually be going through the targets head?
I was working on a second render for this months competition, not sure I'm that happy with my current effort though. Still, feedback is always useful regardless so heres what I was working on.
