Daft question, rim lights...
Hello,
I have been working on a piece and so far, there is only one hitch.
Its two figures, dungeon scene. I have been setting up the lights and I notice that necromancer charry has a great edge to him where the light is touching him. Just that nice edge of light per the rim light.
But no matter what I do, I cant seem to get the female character to get the same lovely edge to it. I have moved the lights around, I have shifted them up and down. I changed her settings to be more "moist" looking. I changed her SSS settings. I changed her texture completely, shifting through a few characters, but she is not getting the same nice, "rim light" edge I am looking for.
This makes me wonder, are some skin textures better than others for picking that rim light edge up?
If so, can someone suggest a few that are better at it than others?
(Btw, I have shifted through characters both HD and non-HD. I have tried altern8 skin settings(my go to), I have tried lowering the SSS, upping the SSS, you get the idea. I have been sitting here for roughly 6 hours just tweeking these lights. The male figure is great. Lovely edging to his features. But its just the female one I am having issues with)
Suggestions?

The 'rim light' effect mainly comes from the specular reflection on surfaces (skin, wearables, hair, etc.) other than SSS or sth.. So just try to tweak Dual Lobe.., Glossy, Top Coat... related parameters, (weight, reflectivity, roughness, etc.).
Thank you! I will do that. I found one of the skin sets I have did bring out a nice "Pop" on the rim light. But then the rest seemed abit flat. But I will try this! Thank you!
