    I don't have it.

But when looking, there is no sign of anything rigged.

the doors have a separate texture so the geometry editor could possibly be used to split it up

not buying it so cannot say if they are not just stuck on top

Has anyone bought it yet? I'd also like to know about the doors and windows. There's one render where it looks as if the shutters have been opened, at least. But I'm not sure if that's fixed in place as is, or rigged.

Just a heads-up for anyone interested in buying, I've got it now, and the size is very big, four zips amounting to more than 2 GB altogether. Don't know if it's just the textures or what, there's certainly a lot of them in the set. Well, just so you know if you're short on disk space like I am.

Hopefully you find the doors and shutters opening and closing.

Do the doors, windows, and shutters open and close?

    No.

    Pity.

there are quite a few products without opening and closing doors, windows, etc..static props. When I find a vendor that does that, I rarely buy their stuff in the future unless it directly states that things move. i guess it depends on what youre doing in a render, but if you stay in one place, and nothing changes no matter what, it gets kind of questionalbe and boring

  • tsroemitsroemi Posts: 2,858

I also don't like it much that doors and windows can't be moved in this set, but there's one window with open shutters that I think I will be able to cut out and move to into other window frames, while cutting out the closed windows there of course. Still, it's a pity one has to resort to such measures. But the set is rather beautiful, nevertheless.

Exactly. I have never had a reason to have opening doors or windows in a render and I feel I am not the only one or more assets would include them

There's always the hope that such items and in a $ 1.99 grab bag sooner or later wink

What do you do with your animations when the character gets to the unopenable door?

I always wonder about this because I have never seen the need for doors or windows to open really. I don't do animations though. I think most of the users do not do animations either.

I don't do animations, so there has never been a need

No one has to justify their minimum requirements to another, if soemthing is a deal breaker for one and not for another then that is as it is and does not need debating - unless there are workarounds to be offered, but even then it would be up to the user with stricter requirements to decide if they were satisfactory.

  • WendyLuvsCatzWendyLuvsCatz Posts: 38,483

I do animations and generally don't need to show people opening doors, they might reach for a door handle before entering another room but then like in movies you just cut to them being in the other room

it's actually the people doing still images who IMO might want to show a view into an interior as it all has to happen in one shot to tell the story

they can edit that in in post in a photo manipulation software like Gimp though rendering the interior and using cage deform on the door and erasing the exposed space showing the layer below of the interior

I have actually done similar things to that with images (photographs) layered over image series for animated scenes

    Richard,

I think a polite debate about desirable features can produce useful feedback to a PA about what kind of things people look for, and maybe help to explain why a particular item sells well or doesn't sell so well.

Personally I like opening doors and windows, plus the option for open or closed curtains/blinds. If I'm doing a render of a nigh time scene it can look strange if all the curtains are open in a room, and it can make choosing a camera angle very awkward.

    Cut to the next shot.

Or use the other secret movie trick and use a separate door prop.

Looks like it is no longer available. I had it in my cart and it disappeared.

They are working on it atm. Paypal was blocking orders if they contained it because the name is suspect. They are renaming the product and gonna reactivating it. Give it a bit.

Thanks. Do you know how long? I was really hoping to include it in today's order to maximize my use of tokens and other discounts.

It is a beautiful set, and yes too bad there are no door or window props to rig. Am wondering if you had any missing meta data. I installed ununstalled and reinstalled with DIM. Only the 1 of the four sets seems to have metadata after a reinstall.

It's really easy to cutout the doors but not finding it so easy for the windows.

I was actually quite surprised yesterday not seeing threads about PayPal blocking this product since they tend to block anything with text remotely related to Cuba. Looks like my expectations about them was correct...

i would like those opening things in those models but I'm not going to play coy, where else am I going to get models of these types at this price? Opening/closing doors, windows, shutters, drawers or not?

I seem to recall this happening to another product with Havana in the name here. A hair set got renamed if I'm remembering right.

Yes, it was. There was also one over a set of Ancient Egypt props. PayPal thought Daz 3d was trafficking in ancient artifacts or something. LOL. I don't recall if the set had to be renamed.

Anything which might be related to Cuba seems to be a problem with them. Many years ago they already had problems with a pack of V4 shoes because they had "cuban heels" wink
