Studio 4.21 doesn't see all items in library
Built a new computer. It renders five times as fast as my old Win7, wet 1080ti, 64G RAM system with Studio 4.12.
The DAZ 3D Library in my old system was up-to-date, so I copied it to the same location on my old system.
Disc C:>Users>Public>Public Documents
Now, Studio 4.21 doesn't display everything in either Smart Content or in Content Library. For example, in Figures - People - Female - Real world, the old system shows 160 figures, the new system shows 11.
The new system "knows" the stuff is there, it all shows up in "Content Library - DAZ Studio Formats - My DAZ 3D Library", but most of my content doesn't show up in either Smart Content or Content Manager. Nothing shows up in the "Poser Formats" section, either.
If I load a scene created on my old computer in Studio 4.12, 4.21 finds everything except my custom textures, and loads and renders nicely.
Anyone have an idea as to what is wrong? Thank you.

So you only copied only the library and not the CMS data. Copy the CMS data too.
Where do I find CMS data?
For Smart Content, you will need to "Re-Import Metadata" from the Content DB Maintenance utility on the new system. This picks up all the info you had from installed products. If you have customized anything in the old system (custom categories, changes to metadata, etc.), "Export User Data" from there first, and copy the UserData_nn.dsx files to the new system. It should be in the same folder as the rest of the metadata files (typically [yourLibrary]/data/runtime/Support).
For the Poser Formats, did you set up the Content Directory Manager with the correct path?
I don't see "Export User Data". The only thing I see is "Export Product Metadata".
In addition to what the others have said about re-importing your metadata, you have said that not everything is shown in the Content Library so you need to fix that first. It sounds like you have not added all your base/content directories. Under COntent Library select the "Content Directory Manager" from the corner hamburger icon drop-down and make sure all the libraries you copied across are referenced under "DAZ Studio Formats". Also, make sure your Daz-store library is also listed under "Poser formats". You can use the same window on your odl machine as a reference.
The instructions to update the CMS/Smart Content will pull from these libraries and so it's best to get them added first.
Oh. It's under "Content Database Maintenance".
The only .dsx UserData files I can locate are UserData_Local_User_AncientMineShaft (six of those) and UserData_PublicBuild_1 (Three, numbered 1, 2, and 3.)
Okay, found it. Poser content is now showing up, thanks.
Sorry, I forgot about the little storage icon - I meant the one even more to the top-right - the one that is in-line with the tabs. See the screenshot attached.
Found it. Poser content is now showing up, thanks.
Content library still incomplete, it looks like it's not showing any of my third-party stuff, like Rendo or Wilmap, etc.
Any suggestions?
Did you export them just now? You will want the latest data. Anyway, yes, copy those (including the Ancient Mine Shaft, it won't hurt) before re-importing. The number User Data files depends on how much customization you've done. Personally, I have 12 of them. I forgot that the name for the beta versions exports with a different name, but it all goes into the same database, unless you specifically set up another.
Copying the whole database as Ascania suggests is also valid, but I have never tried that.
Did you install to a different library? You can have more than one. If so, you need to map any other library folders. Your original setup would have had every library included.
Okay, I've copied them to an external hard drive. How do I import them to the new computer? I don't want to screw anything up, since I seem to be almost at a usable Studio computer!
All that's left is to convince Content Manager to see all of my content, and I can retire the old computer.
Oh... and to convince 4.21 to see all of my custom textures...
Copy the UserData files to the same place on the new machine, [libraryFolder]/runtime/Support (sorry, I previously said /data/runtime/Support). When you Re-Import Metadata, you should get a list of all Products and entries for the UserData. Include everything and Accept.
Let's look at the Poser stuff after this completes. One step at a time...
NorthOf45,
Today I had to upgrade my PC and reinstall Daz with custom CMS folders. Somehow I ran into the same issue as the OP in that the contents fetched by the Daz Install Manager were not showing up in Daz Smart Content. Your suggestion to reimport the metadata helped.
Cheers!
Smart Content is all about the metadata. It can't be of much use without the metadata.
Is this Content Library > Square Hamburger > Content Database Maintenance > Re-import Metadata?
Did that, restarted Studio, no joy.
Still no non-DAZ showing in Content Library. Some of it does show up in DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ 3D library, but most is still missing.
And yet, when I load an old scene, everything shows up and renders except for my custom textures, like modified colors for Melody 2.0.
There's no pattern to it, like most of my Deva3D characters from Renderosity are there, but some, like Minka, are missing.
But when I load an old scene that has her in it, she's there, textures and all.
Are you certain that you
I did #2 first to a portable hard drive. C > Users > Public > Public Documents > My DAZ3D Library.
I assume "hooked up" means copied them from the portable hard drive to the same spot on
my new computer as on my old computer.
Then I came here for help and did #1 and #4.
OK, the main issues here is that we do not know your exact setup or how you installed the third party assets etc. However, in general terms, if you did 2 BEFORE 1 then 4 will be missing info. This is because the export in step 1 will save ALL your custom category changes to a UserData.dsx file inside the Runtime/Support folder of your primary (listed first) Daz library. So obviously this would not be available on your new PC since you copied the stuff over first. Therefore, on your old machine go look inside the Runtime/Support folder for the UserData.dsx file (it may have a number at the end) and copy it to the same place on the new PC.
The next point is that you did not mention doing step 3. Note - "hooked up" here does not mean copying folders. It means adding them as a base library in the Content Directory Manager. I have attached the config from my setup - however, the important thing for you is to make sure you have the same number configured in your new PC that you have in your old PC.
Also, something I didn't mention before - have you ever logged into your account on Daz Studio and installed products from within - i.e. used Daz Connect. If so then you will need to add the correct folder under the "Daz Connect Data" in addition to making sure that this folder was also copied across from the old PC.
Lastly, the order is very important as in addition to including the exported data as mentioned before. The re-import process will only import Smart Content from currently configured base libraries (step 3). If you add a base library after doing the import then you will need to do it again because there isn't a way to do just the missing library easily.
The smaller one is from my old computer, the large one is from the new computer.
I've done your first paragraph.
I've never used DAZ Connect. When I built my older computer in 2016, I had it on line long enough to download and install all of my content
using Install Manager. Since then, the old computer has been air gapped with semi-manual install all the way.
I don't know if this matters, but the Smart Content pane is working normally, i.e., it is acting the same on both computers.
The problem is that my Content Library isn't showing any of my non-DAZ items.
Well, there is your problem - you have 9 (NINE) libraries under "Daz Studio" on your old machine and only added 1 on the new machine. That will be why you cannot see a lot of your stuff.
You need to add all the other 8 libraries (copying over if necessary), then re-import the metadata.
I need to go through my old computer and clean up my library, the K drive is an SSD,
it has all of my Studio content on it. I'm sure that having my HDD C and E drives there
is slowing things down.
I really don't want to clutter up my new computer like that, and since all of my third-
party content is there in My DAZ 3D Library Orig but not visible in my Content Library,
I've been going through all of them and "create a product from".
Now they're showing up in my Content Library, which is what I wanted. With only two
directories, since my content is all on the C drive, and my saved scenes are all on the
D drive, and both of them are M.2 NVMe drives.
I haven't located and created a product for all of my third-party content, but the rest
I can do as I need them. Problem solved.
I really like the new computer. Running simultaneous renders of the same scene on
both shows that the new one renders 6X as fast as the old one, which is
good enough to make me very happy.
