depth/normal drawstyle for AI

I know we can have depth/normal passes with Iray canvas but they are taking some time to render especially on complex scenes. It would be great to have a realtime normal/depth drawstyle like blender's normal matcap so we can have a better workflow between API using script.

How long did it take to render that depth map? I cannot get it to make any that are nearly that clean, they always have fuzzy edges. Could you share your render settings for that if possible? Thanks very much.

it used to be fast untill something changed in 4.20 my solution is to put a huge flat plane behind your scene just for the depth map it will fix the gritty edges

I tried making depth maps via the depth canvas in the advanced render settings.

But when converting to 8bit in blender with normalization, it seems there are no sharp edges, rather it is pretty noisy at the corners.

How to render better depth maps with crisp edges?

These images made with blender. I have made a quick script to send the obj file and generate maps via blender. That was the best option for me because i can generate hed/canny maps with blender compositing but this is still taking time too.
