G8 PowerPose Template on G8.1

I was wondering if there is a way to use G8 PowerPose Template with G8.1. The reason I'm asking is because with the G8 PowerPose Template it's possible to adjust the face expression while with the G8.1 PowerPose Template we can only adjust the eyes pose. I know that with G8.1 we are suppose to use the FACS-based facial control system rig but I really, REALLY like the options that G8 PowerPose template offered in order to better adjust the whole face expression.

Any ideas on how to achieve something similar?

Thanks a lot,

Martha

NorthOf45 that would be absolutely awesome!!!!! I really miss being able to tweak the expressions with the PowerPose template. Thank you very, very, very much!!! Really appreciate it!!!

    Cheers,

  • I don't remember offhand, but if you search on google 8.1 power pose face controls, you'll find a thread here in the forums that outlines exactly how to get it to work. You have to go and take out certain folders that are installed and it works perfectly fine. And don't use Daz Central to install or if it asks you if you want to install something when you load Daz because it would put those files back, found that out the hard way and had to search for the thread again lol. But it works, it's just been like 8 months since I had to do it so I don't remember the exact process. Or hang tight for NorthOf45's way, I'd love to give that a try too!

Thanks for the tip Benniewoodell. I think I have seen that thread you mention but if I'm not mistaken that was a trick to make G8 expressions work with G8.1. Maybe I'm wrong... But what I wish I could do, besides that, is to be able to tweak the expressions directly with powerpose.

    Cheers,

Same trick gets you the G8 powerpose templates for G8.1

Making the G8 base expressions (and any expressions that are using them) work on G8.1 requires removing dummy/placeholder expressions that are installed to G8.1 morph folders - These dummy/placeholder expression files have no other function than to prevent the base G8 expressions from loading.

    The dummy/placeholder files are located in;

...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Base Pose Head\ (255 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Expressions\ (24 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Base Pose Head\ (255 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)
...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Expressions\ (24 files, can be more if you have additional DAZ expression packs)

Please make sure you are removing the files from G8.1 morph folders and not G8 morph folders.

Note 1; If you are logging in to DS and letting DAZ Connect (within DS) to install/update your content, you may have these also in an other location that has "\Data\Cloud\" in it's path
Note 2; Do not remove any files from "FACS" or "FACSExpressions" folders

That's the one! I don't use premade expressions, I do everything with power pose, what PerttiA wrote here will work for you.

Yeah, that's all good, but you are limited to what the PowerPose templates include, and they are encrypted, so you can't change them. My alternate will have many more pose controls.

That's exactly what I miss from the G8 PowerPose template. Once you understand the controls it's super fast to make expressions and it gives so much control. Looking forward for your template NorthOf45!!!!

    Hi, NorthOf45

Just to let you know that I have donwloaded the template and I have tested it with G8.1F and so far I can tell you IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!! Thank you so much for your help. Not being able to use PowerPose to tweak expressions with G8.1 was the reason I didn't want to fully adopt G8.1 generation but with your PowerPose template that's no longer an issue anymore.

I have also tested your template using the hack to restore Genesis 8 Expressions for Genesis 8.1 and I can tell you that so far it doesn't interfere with your template and everything keeps working just fine.

I still have to test the template with G8.1M. I don't think there will be any problems but I'll let you know the results of my tests just for completion.

Once again, thank you so much for all your help. Really appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    Martha

Well, to tell the truth, I had been tinkering with the PowerPose templates for G3, G8 and G8.1 for a while. You just caught me at the right time.

    One question, NorthOf45.

I have noticed that you have also added some new templates than seems to me are for further sculpting the face. One for the front and one for the side. Is it possible to make the tweaks with symmetry on or maybe is there a way to select two nodes at the same time?

    Thanks,

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,532

The Face view has always been there, I just re-imagined the map and the position of a few controls. I added the Side view to be able to access the Z-axis easily, I did not add any new properties or controls that did not already exist. All those points are part of the upper and lower face rigs, which you can select in the Scene tab and have access to all their properties in the Parameters tab. PowerPose will not let you select more than one node at a time, unless the control is a node group, then you have control of all nodes in that group simultaneously, depending on their relative speed. You can still manipulate the individual nodes in a node group, but from the Parameters tab, which will display all nodes in that group when selected.

From what I can see about Symmetry (never actually used it before), you apply it after tweaking one side, one node at a time. You can do several and select them all in the Scene tab and apply to selected nodes, or apply symmetry to the root, recursive.

    Hey NorthOf45,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you I just wanted to let you know that I finally had the chance to test the G8.1M PowerPose template and it's also working great!

Again thanks a lot for all your help,

    Martha
