Seriously daz?
Come on SERIOUSLY who dropped the ball on this one?! You post an add-on set that says it is for a base set that you don't even offer? And after checking with other sites its not even available there. It would be nice if it stated somewhere what the base set can be found.
Can some one... Anyone please tell me where the base set is for this? https://www.daz3d.com/year-of-the-rabbit-for-chinese-illuminations
I bought this set thinking it was a self contained itme but imagine my surprise when it wasn't and was even more disappointed when I found out there is no base set for it to work with. I was willing to go ahead and purchase the original so I could use this set but instead I had to request a refund instead of holding onto a texture set that is completely unusable.
My apologies to ForbidenWhispers for not being able to support you on what looks like an amazing must have for me set.

The base comes out next week. Unfortunately, DAZ mistakenly released the addon first. However, it's not entirely unusable.
If the base doesn't come out until next week, that still doesn't explain why this addon set doesn't state it needs a base set to work. And yes, you can go in and manually add the textures to other items but that doesn't immediate issue.
This is a known issue - the required product is pointing to another entry (I assume it has SKUs or the like) and if that isn't referencing a live product nothing appears - in the same way there are texture sets for items thata r no longer in the store that lack their required product (which is why those get pulled when spotted). This particular product was discussed in at least a couple of threads last Wednesday, when it came out.
There is nothing refferenced or an SKU number Ricard, also I don't live on the forum so I was not aware it had already been discussed, I looked back several pages and didn't see anything so I posted my own.
If you need the second product for the first product to work, then the real pain comes when you find out what the second product costs.
And to compound the issue, they know they posted the add on first but have made no effort to fix the issue. Just another reason I spend less and less money here for content.
Because the products were released in the wrong order, so the reference goes to an inactive page and isn't populated on the publicly visible page.
That would be me. I dropped the ball.. as I posted in the MO forum, the sets were swtiched and I didn't notice.
The base set will be released next week, thanks!
I'm not looking to place blame on anyone Jack, I just wanted an answer to my question. So basically I just asked for a refund for this set because no general notice was given to let everyone know?
*sigh* There is no link to anything Richard, so we don't even get a chance to link to a different page publicly visible or otherwise. Please point out the reference to the inactive product.
It will be in the database but not visible to us mere-mortals because the linked product is specifically hidden from us by the forum page display code.
The argument can be made that inactive products SHOULD still show up in the required products section as an un-clickable item to avoid this situation.
I didn't say otherwise - in fact I said exactly that - the item is not showing as it is not currently set active.
Unfortunately that is a common sense answer that makes sense and daz can't do common sense it seems.
You know Richard, if you were to ever give a straight answser to anything I think half the forum would have a heart attack.
I will keep your warning in mind.
This entire thread could have been "This add-on product has clearly been accidentally released before its base product, so I think it should be withdrawn until the base is out", but instead we get psychoanalysis and medical advice.
I guess its a good thing daz likes you as a moderator, because your sense of humor sucks.
Thank you Captain Obvious.
Historically, that causes more questions since everyone then ask's 'where's this product thats in the newsletter'... and releasing the base set the same day after the fact, losing the email notication will also just bury it.
So the best approach is to just release the following week, which we'll do.
Now I remember why I don't miss being a PA here.
Well, as far as serious suggestions to the issue, the scheduling being able to flag if prerequisites aren't (or won't) be released would be the best I've got.
Inactive links are presumably going to irritate people in different ways, and I guess could arguably worsen an NDA leak or confuse users if it's an older product that's been withdrawn for... well, whatever reason and won't ever be coming back.
However, I realise that changing code is like saying "Hey, I don't like my house foundations, can you just quickly swap them over for me?"
Holy mackerel - someone saw through my disguise! Quick, away to the Obvious Cave!
Don't forget to take your mackerel with you, I wouldn't want you to leave anything... fishy behind.
Blatantly NOT TRUE! Richard is a voluteer who willing gives the best advice he is able to give. As far as I know he is not a DAZ employee and doesn't have access to their plans.
I am, theoretically, sufficiently thick skinned/headed to bear brickbats but since they are being lobbed somewhat broadly the thread has been closed.
