It takes too long to go through Genesis 9 people, looking for male or female characters.

Okay. I need to find a Genesis 9 male model, of an older average looking guy.
You think that'd be easy right? No. When going through Genesis 9 models on the store page, it TAKES FOREVER to find what you want, because the shop constantly shows clothes, jewelry, everything, in addition to the characters, so it takes 10 times longer to find what you need.
If I click CLOTHES, the store should ONLY show clothes.
If I cilck PEOPLE, the store should ONLY shoe people, and based on male or female, for the sake of SAVING TIME.
If I click SHOES, the store should only show SHOES.
Come on man.

Here you go
Search is poor and probably won't change much in the short term. The main issue is that Daz doesn't appear to have anticipated that people would want to search by criteria, like "character", and didn't tag products to make searching easy. G9 being androgynous doesn't help, either.
Any change would require going through the catalogue and tagging each item. So far, Daz has not said anything about undertaking such a project. Perhaps they think customers will buy more if we have to slog through pages and pages of stuff.
I'm very pleased with the store's categories. I can't find anything I'm looking for, but upon release I wishlist items I'd ever want to see again. So, my wishlist is my category, and DAZ-DEALS makes it simple and easy to do. Daz says they are in the process of updating categorisation. When you wake up in a hole, the first thing you do is stop digging. Genesis 9 People could be the standard for future categorisation, and it appears that it is going to be. So why frown? Even the sun goes down. Let's call it mixed emotions for now.
From my own experience, after wasting time on 4 pages of mostly unrelated stuff, I just give up and Daz doesn't get *any* money from me.
Some tags are there, just look under the icon of each product in the store and you will see products tagged with things like Hair, Props, Clothing, Poses, People etc. However this does not help the OP much since pretty much any people product, including hair and clothing, is also tagged as people. There does not appear to be a tag just for characters.
It looks almost like they have an AI doing the tagging, as they have tagged even items that have nothing to do with animals as animals, although there was one in one of the promo pictures
Perhaps they should use a Captcha-type system to get users to tag products when logging into their Daz account. They could get the store sorted in a week or two. It would be annoying for a short while, but once the pain was over, we'd have a useful store search.
I'm seriously suspecting this might be true given how sometimes outfits were given "mature" tag because shade of the fabric was close enough to the model skin tone. This is kind of mistake image recognition software is making.
Or giving users some store credit for tagging
If only. I'd do it for store credit in about two weeks.
I've seen a site that tried this. It backfired horribly, as everything quickly ended up with every possible tag.
All you need do is log into the store and there are check boxes for Genesis 9 near the left margin about a quarter down from the top.
That gives you EVERYTHING that is compatible with G9. Can you find a filter that will give G9 characters, but not G9 clothing?
Noop
I think you're giving the engineers too much credit if you think they can set up such a system.
No, it includes wearables. I agree they need a 'character' filter only, exclusive of clothing, props, add-ons, morph packs, hairs, and textures.
But they do already, it's called 'People'
It is possible that the shop search has saved me a lot of money. If it gets better, I'll have to start exercising my willpower more and run the risk of exceeding my budget. Due to the search facility's inaccuracy in finding only what I want and instead swamping it in huge amounts of irrelevant stuff to the extent I get fed up & go away, staying in my budget is relatively easy because I simply can't find what I want.
So, I am rather pleased with the search facility.
Regards,
Richard
I couldn't find it but thought it existed in the past. I'll look again.
No, wait, I did find it and it has everything including the kitchen sink in it! Almost 700 products for Genesis 9! They need a people filter for each generation that are standalone characters ONLY.
If you could post a screenshot of search results from a store search for "People", or even something that just says "People", I'd be much obliged. I'm not seeing it.
Thanks in advance.
I've missed quite a few coupons and sales because I couldn't narrow my search to the products I'd actually use.
Here ya go. 99 or so People, including Creatures.
The problem is not that they don't have a tag for characters, but the fact that they are slapping that tag to everything. What good would a new character tag be, if they again tagged everything with it?
The way they are tagging the products, makes one think that the tagging is done by an AI instead of people...
I'm not sure you looked at these results before you posted them.
Of the 16 items visible in your screen shot, only 4(I giving credit for the bundle here but it's not a character, it's a bundle) are characters.
The other 12 items are hair, poses, clothes, a morphs and props.
This is exactly the problem OP is talking about.
You must have misinterpreted my post (or you didn't read it). Sevrin asked for a screenshot of anything saying "People" because he evidently couldn't find it. My screenshots were a response to him in order to display the People category in various stages. As I pointed out, of the 700+ items listed in the People category, only 99 were actually people (and I included Genesis 9 creatures in that total).
yea, didn't see where you posted that part.
Reading the whole thread gave it more context.
The store search is still a complete train wreck.
In it's current form it is basically useless.
I'm with you.
It's hard to buy things here anymore. Everything is so difficult to find.
Which is fine, I have enough daz content to sort though already.
