Looking for... "common-looking" medieval fantasy hair for females (preferably G8F).
Hey there.
Been looking for medieval fantasy hairs for girls, but pretty much everything I find is, understandably, suited to fierce warrioresses, evil witches, fancy princesses or whimsical elves. Thing is, I'm looking for hair that still looks medieval but is more suitable for a more average lady, like a villager. From the village's old crone to the innkeeper's fair daughter, or even a petty-noble girl who cares about her looks but cannot afford a princess' haircare... all's good for me. Historical accuracy is not really important, which means that as long as it looks/feels medieval it's fine, even it's not actually medieval.
Figure is not really important either. G8F is preferable, but G8.1F, G3F and pretty much anything else will also do.
Would you guys have some suggestions?

How about something from Goldtassel?https://www.daz3d.com/goldtassel.
I think we could be well overdue an update on Snood Hair, which is a shame because it's how a lot of people wore their hair across history.
How about this: https://www.daz3d.com/marielle-hair
Or some of these: from a google search for 'medieval hair 3D DAZ model'

How about this https://www.daz3d.com/heroic-curly-style-hair-for-genesis-8-female
Step 1: Post a reference image.
Given the medieval era, would have had very little in terms of salon options, short slightly messy hair would be an accurate option.
Following that, hair in a ponytail so the wmoen could work in the field or the stables is a good bet.
The whole braided warrior hair is way too hollywood, cause in any kind of battle a bald head or very short hair is harder to grab and yank.
Forget about ponytails. Real medieval common women had their hair braided (if unmarried), or under the hood (if married), mostly totally covered.
that autofits pretty well
the most common hairdo is the simple single or double braid, down if unmarried rolled or pinned up if wed
think the classic Heidi look
this a good one

This sort of looks like Viking hair:

This one is more of a French royalty style (wish they had a male version too of this powdered wig look):

This one is beautiful and would be suitable for a common villager:

And I definitely can picture this as being the style of a medieval villager (it has both male and female in the same product):

cherpenbeck is... right.
But we have "fantasy" juxtaposed with "Medieval"
So, if you feel it fits what you want, just go with something that floats your boat.
Fantasy (do what you want) ----------------------------- Medieval (Historical) Braided! Can't go wrong with Princess Lea over ear buns (Covered with Veil for married woman
Look at the head covering in the Bliaut outfit for something to use for a married woman. And I also recommend the Braided Band Hair. It is useful for many eras, a classic.
Remember, it was not just modesty that had one covering your hair, but religious law and also the simple fact of how difficult it might be to simply wash your hands, much less your body, and especially your hair. Even up to the 1930s - 1950s, many women wore head scarves because they only washed once a week in America, bathrooms were not yet that common.
And you'll probably need something like these too for the full-on authentic medieval look..... teeth and skin. It wasn't a great period for personal hygiene and general health despite what today's movies would have us imagine. Everyone pretty much died from disease/old age before 33.
The medieval period lasted for a thousand years... I think you'd first have to decide what particular part you are designing for.
That's a popular misconception. The average life expectancy might have been in the mid-30s, but that was because of a very high infant and childhood mortality rate; if someone survived childhood, they had a good chance of living into their 50s or 60s.
Fun side note: I'm prone to ear and sinus infections, and a while ago it occurred to me that if I'd been born even a century earlier, there's no way I would have survived to adulthood.
