Why does DAZ Studio not recognize that it is already installed on an external drive on my computer ? My DIM is asking me to re-download and re-install everyrthing I have ever purchased.

We would need more details, but if nothing is being seen as installed by the installer you used then it sounds as if the Manifests folder is missing or as if the location of the Manifests folder is not set correctly.
