After I installed windows 10 and reinstalled DS 4.8 I discovered to great surprise and joy that I finally have the Progress DB instead of the old what-was-then-name-again that is better forgotten. The only way I can compare with is a SF novel I once read, about that the planet earth had been in some shadow for thousands of years that kept the intelligence down, and the story was about how life became when earth suddenly got out of the shadow and everybody, even the animals became four times more intelligent. So exactly was the way I felt!

But then I began thinking, what about the guy(s) that came up with the not-so-great idea of installing a heavy service that always were running and seriously degraded the computer's performance all the time? Are they not going to answer for all the misery they have accomplished? You could argue that it is prescribed but not so! Tar and feather is my suggestion!

Obviously it was my lucky day because I was also able to download the new DS without installing the installation manager! Thank You!

Now I only have a pious hope that you in the future adhere strictly to the KISS principle, KISS - "Keep It Simple Stupid"

Valentina, the previous database engine, had very little effect on system performance for most people. It was dropped as it was overly prone to corruption, not for system performance issues.
