Need some advise on creating lalafells (FFXIV) in Daz

Hi all, I'm somewhat new to Daz and have had a fun time creating characters that are of a normal appearance. My current endeavour is trying to make models from Final Fantasy XIV. I've had good results for the standard 'human' looking races (sans cat ears for Miqote race and nailing the right ear style for the elezens), but now I'm trying to create a lalafell. They're just this game's version of a small dwarf race I suppose? I've attached some photos to show what they look like. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any specific morphs or something that would help with getting their body types down. I tried some I had but they made them look quite bumpy and grotesque looking, like some cryptic goblins as opposed to sweet looking children lol. Thanks in advance :)

  • Seeing this thread inspired me to make one since I made small fantasy beings before

Here's her with default G8 female for scale

What I did was load in Xiao Meng as a base, use Young Teen from Growing up 8, dial Xiao Meng to 50% then dial in Bette 50% since she looked like she had the right eye shape

Daisy 8 elf ears 100%, Ears Elf long 52%

Daz Head Morphs for Genesis 8

Eye Height -37%, Eye Size -75%, Eye Width 63%, Cheeks Depth 21%, Jaw Height 46%, Face Young 20%, Face Heart 16% Nose Pinch 46%, Nose Size -63%, Lips Thin 100%, Mouth Size -49%,

Daz Body Morphs for Genesis 8

Legs Length -26%, Thigh Size 40%, Arms Length -16%, Forearm Size 57%, Shoulder Size -13%, Shoulders Width -46%, Upper Arm Size 43%,  Torso Length -50%

    From Zev0's Face Morphs

Cheek Bones Height 62%, Cheek Bones Size 44%, Face Lower Narrow 20%,  Nose Depth (alt) -41%, Nose Scale -63%, Nose Size Depth -25%

That's the closest I got so far

If you use the search term  "dwarf"  and/or "baby"  you will find morphs that should approximate the body type of these characters,

Then using the search term fantasy EARS should help you find morphs for the ears.

Search "Tunic"  should help you find the outfits.

short tie hair for some hair possibilities.

Thank you, I was having a struggle on my phone when I posted this. :)

Luckily I'm not too worried about the outfits or hair, it's mostly just getting the body right. It's sad because I have the models in blender but bringing them into Daz is always miserable for me and I'd really like to be able to make it work here.

I'll search around and see if I can find something that works well. Thank you!

This product might help you get a start, you would probably need to make the head a bit smaller.

    Just a reminder:

Advice vs advise:  Advice (spelled with a "c" but pronounced with an "s" sound like "ice") is a noun.   Whereas "advise" (spelled with an "s" but pronounced with a "z" sound like "eyes") is a verb.  (To advise, is to give advice.)   Don't you just love English?wink

I'm now home so I'll take a look at what you've done and see what I can work out on my end. Thanks for sharing that, it helps a lot, especially with the face! :)

Oooh, I think this is a good base to work from though, thank you!

  • Oooo! Another FFXIV fan!

Have you done any other things that you want to share? I'm working on kitbashing a gunbreaker outfit for my Highlander Hyur.

  • So I decided to try my hand at this and ended up with a Lala that looks somewhat like Krile but should get you started especially if you have additional morphs for the eyes. This is just with the default Genesis 8.1 materials that load when you put a new figure in the scene.

Besides Bugaboo I also used these packs:

    https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-body-morphs

    https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-head-morphs

    https://www.daz3d.com/rarestone-s-face-morphs-collection-for-genesis-8-female

    https://www.daz3d.com/200-plus-head-and-face-morphs-for-genesis-8-female-s

And Sickleyield's free 200 morphs pack from ShareCG

    https://sharecg.com/v/91888/view/21/DAZ-Studio/SY-200-Morphs-for-Genesis-8-Head-and-Body

Ears are also tweaked at the actual bones with this:
    Twist: 15

    Front-Back: 10/-10

    Up-Down: 5/-5

I attached my parameters so you can see what they are and tweak to get closer to what you want.
