Lining motions for multiple objects

Some where I have a prop. It is a cycle or similar and when the the sprocket rotates all the pedals move with it and remain level to the plane. In other words the rotations of the sprocket are linked with each pedal to function in unison.
I tried a search but have no idea what this function is even called.
How is that done?
Part B is attached to Part A then when part A rotates part B's rotations are applies in unison.

ERC - enhanced remote control - linking the X or Z rotation of the crank (depending on whether it is modelled head-on or sideways) to the X or Z rotation on each pedal. The simplest way to do this would be to Rotate the crank some value (90 or 180 say), rotate the pedals to balance, then put the Parameters pane in Edit mode (via right-click), right-click on the crank's appropriate rotation, and select ERC Freeze - check that there are no other proeprties selected as Sub-components, click Accept, and test.
