Can't select anything with weight mapping tool anymore

Haven't used this function in a few months, but now that I tried it, I can't seem to be able to select any individual polys or vertices with any of the selection tools in the weight mapping tool. I can only paint on a figure or select everything at once. What is even going on?

In the Tool Settings Tab, activate the geometry selection node (Shit+L) to select. Then activate back the Weight Map brush tool (Shift+P) to paint.

Or switch between Geometry Editor Tool (Alt+Shift+G) and Node Weight Brush Tool (Alt+Shift+W) to select then weight vertices to bones, or select then weight how much dForce Surface parameters will influence vertices.
