How to cover hair with hood

AtiAti Posts: 9,143

Hi,

I have the Medieval Princess Gown for Genesis 2 Female(s) hood, and using the End of Summer Hair for Genesis and Genesis 2 Female(s) hair on Victoria 6.

The result is not exactly what I am hoping to get. :)

I tried parenting the hood to Victoria, and the hair, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I enabled showing the hidden parameters, but could not find anything that would have caused the hood to go over the hair.

How can I cover the hair with the hood?

Thanks for all advice,

Ati

Unfortunately, neither the hair nor the hood are dynamic and there is no collision between them so the hair is just not going to slide in nicely.

I do not have this hairstyle so I cannot try to fix this myself but what I would do is this:

    - Check the material groups in the surfaces tab to see how the hair mesh is split into different material groups (such as "top", "bangs", "back" and so on) and then I´d completely hide the upper part of the hair mesh if possible (with the opacity sliders) and I´d only leave the hair on her shoulder visible.

    - Then I would look for morphs for the hair on the shoulder that would push it in a little bit so it does not overlap the clothing so much and a maybe style morph to make it thinner, that could also help.

Usually, clothing that has hood is not made for any hair to be under it, or very few hairstyles that do not have much volume.  Its just a limitation of the non dynamic meshes.

If the existing material groups don't work out well for hiding pieces of the hair, you can also create your own surfaces by choosing individual polygons, although this might take a bit of time.

You could also use deformers to either pull the hair down out of sight (or push the hood up higher).

One can also watch out for products designed to address issues like this.  For example Hat Hair Props: http://www.daz3d.com/hat-hair-props or similar products might be useful in similar cases, although some work might still be necessary.

Again, Sriesch has the right ideas. Both of those methods are valid options. I find making morphs a bit easier overall. But I've also hidden some of the polys as well.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I see I have a lot to learn. :)
