Publishing Build is the general release, Public Build is the open beta, Private Build is just that. There's no harm in having all three checked. You'll only see the public build if you've "bought" the beta, and you'll only see private build if you're one of the alpha/closed beta testers.

No, Publishing Build is a version made available to PAs - presumably it is at least a step ahead of the Public Build or it would be pointless.

Right, and the Publishing Build if a PA (and it may be more rstricted than that). Only the general release is available to every user, and the Public Build to those who have purchased the beta product (for free).
