I Ray for non nVidia macs

in New Users
Catchy title that! I have tried to render using iRay and managed to get some results, not that good TBH but that could have been down to my lack of knowledge of the process or perhaps not. I have assumed that one needs nVidia grahic cards to actually use iRay. I have a mac and it has AMD graphics card. So question is, is it possible to use iRay with my machine, if so how can it be done and is it worth my time trying to do this when it may not actually be possibe.
Any answers would be much appreciated...
Thank you

It should be possible, as Iray can make use of CPUs and/or GPUs. The GPUs need to be of the right sort, which I believe makes them nVidia-based only. But if a render does not fit in gfx card VRAM, the user opts not to use a gfx card by changing the settings in render options, or there are no suitable GPUs you can alwya use CPU-based Iray rendering.
