Render Quality Options Missing

Hi, i want to know how to fix this.

Im a total newbie using Daz Studio, been using Poser several years and recently switched to DS.

Some days ago installed DS 4.8, watch the tutorials and downloaded the free content just to start playing and learn how to use it.

But there's something odd with the interface: aint show me the Render Quality options, i can render everything i want but just in the basic quality.

I spend 4 days click in every tab and menu but isnt unselected or hide, just isnt.

I hope someone could help me, im truly desperate.

My Computer specs are:
Win7 X86, 4Gb RAM, Intel i3 3.3 Ghz, ATI Radeon HD 5450.

Thanks !

There isn't a render quality setting per se. You make the settings you want. The settings vary by render engine.

OpenGL gives you the choice of basic or internediate. Is that what you mean?

    Render> Render Settings>Engine

In older versions of DAZ Studio, there was a quality selector as shown below, is that what you saw?   That is no longer used, and there is an additional render Engine now called 'Iray' along with 3Delight and the other OpenGL options.

  • Those options are what i looking for Jimmy. In every tutorial i saw,  that screen let you choose... well, you know the rest.

Since there is not longer that options, do you know any basic tutorial to learn how to adjust that options?

    Thanks you both @Fastbike1 & @JimmyC_2009

These options (at least the selction of them) do not really require a tutorial.

3Delight is the render engine that DAZ Studio used as the default engine untill fairly recently, and Iray is now the default.   OpenGL is what the Viewport uses, and it is not really a render option.   It can be useful for animators who want quicker render times, but it does not work with Shaders and lights do not work to their full potential.

Iray is what is known as an 'unbiased' render engine, similar to Luxrender and Octane, and is made by nVidia.   It will work using the CPU only, but it can give much faster results using an nVidia graphics card.   It is much more like 'real world' light, and can give very pleasing results.

There is a great deal to learn about rendering, 3Delight is a 'biased' engine, and you could look up both of those terms (biased and unbiased) on Google, as there are a great many differences.

  • Thats exactly what i need to know. Thanks again and i will do some researching.

  • Hi everyone.

First of all, I'm not a Daz hard user. I just use that as a help to my drawings, so I've ever made fast low quality renderings, but that turtle-rabbit panel is missing in the Daz 4.8, and now there are thousands and thousands of options. How can I do a fast low quality render right now?

    Thanks

  • And I use to do the very basic render, with all that dark shadows, quite similar to the 3d preview, but now the render is bright a lot, and I have no idea how to change that.

The equivalents to that menu are mentioned in this thread:

The Background Colour, has has also moved and is now in the 'Environment pane'.

  • Thanks a lot Prixat!

  • Nice dark shadows again! But how do I increase the resolution?

The Dimensions are in the same 'Render Settings' tab, under 'General'. smiley

  • Obviously I'm doing something wrong, because I can't change the values in "Pixel size" and "Aspect ratio", even when I unlock these small locks.

  • Never mind, I see the options listed right now.

    Thanks a lot guy.
