Genesis 9 hand anchor?

What is the purpose of the Genesis 9 hand anchor (bone)?

And how is it intended used?

I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, although I might have overlooked it.

It could look as a target for where the hand should be, but I can not see how it can be used, and if I try to translate it nothing happens.

    Its to parent props and weapons to. The benefit of using the anchor bone instead of the hand bone is that it will work with any body morph that may change the thickness of hands or the configuration of fingers, etc.
