how do you use textures on an imported obj. ?
Yes this is a newbie Q for sure but I am wanting to know how do you import the skin/textures (I not even sure what you call it) onto a obj. in daz? I got a character and want to use him in Daz but of course when I import him in he has no textures or skin color. How do I get them onto him?
Also I just thought i'd better add this: when I exported the obj of the character onto my desktop. it was a obj. and a mtl. file and a bunch of pmg images of seemingly the skin etc just loosely placed on my desktop. Do I need to put these all in a set folder? on desktop rather than having them all there? In the pic highlighted is a pic of the files.

What .obj are you refering to?
I don't know just an obj. its called trial.obj in the pic.
You would need to put the textures into a folder and apply them to the figure in DS through the surface tab.
In Poser I would get a prompt to point it to where the textures were from the MTL. so I always save textures with the OBJ and the MTL in the same folder.
Not sure if DS does this.
You can place the folders wherever you want in both apps
I use a lot of things that come as just OBJ files, so I have a folder called OBJs on my computer. and then categories within it, so I can find the OBJs easily when I want them. I use then in 2 or 3 different prgrams from that same folder.
Good idea... and then further along these lines some people apparently map the locations of these extra resources into DS, so that they show up in the content library. I'd like to try the latter I suppose... not sure what I did with a past thread that contained this information...
