can't save ERC controller settings

hi members
ive created an ERC between slave(on cloth item) and master(Victoria 4) paremeter just by dragging the master parameter dial from the parameter tab(editmode) into the slave controller located at hierarchy editor. the ERC worked just fine until i saved the cloth item( using wearable preset) into daz library. when loaded the item , the information/property
inside the controller is gone... pls help

This won't work as there's no way for the link to store a pointer to another item. Try saving as a sceen or scene preset with both items (the latter will merge with the existing scene on double-click). The alternative is to use a script to rebuild the link on load.
thx, but strange thing is that daz still able to retain all the existing ERCs when the saved item(.duf) is loaded? Note that Those ERCs were created with poser edit dependencies tools, and that item was in cr2 format...
ERC links within a figure should save, it's those between figures that require more fiddling.
yup, those existing ERCs(created n poser) that daz able to retain are actually link between figures.. so if i change the morph dials in Victoria 4, the related slave dial in the conformed figure will change accordingly, but not with the ERC i've just made in daz studio, the link between figures just went off after i saved it into library as duf format...
Usually inter-figure ERC won't import - but DS does auto-match identically-named parameters between fitted items and the main figure.
ok thanks for that info. to be more specific ,for V4 as master figure, any ERC(created in poser) with FBM as master dial Works perfectly in both poser and Daz , but not ERC(created in poser) with FHM as master dial... the ERC between master and slave(in conforming figure) fail to operate when i load into daz. So i decided to create the daz version of ERC to fix the FHM issue, hoping the new ERC will remain after saving the conforming figure as duf format for daz users. unfotunately daz didnt save the new ERC either but still succesfully retaining other poser ERCs which is not FHM based.
either way, wheather the ERC(created in daz) is FBM or FHM based, daz will never retain the ERC after saving the figure in daz library, this only true with interfigure. * disappointed *
btw, i just noticed in property hierarachy, there is an option called 'save with' under the attributes dropdown menu , also when i right click the dragged master parameter under the controllerdropdown menu, there is another option called 'set save with either controller or sub component'. wonder what are these options for??
Save with controls which morph - the controlled or the controller - gets the ERC link. If both are yours it doesn't matter, but if you are linking a custom morph with an existing morph or transform you obviosuly want to save the link with your morph so that it won't be ovewritten by an update to the existing parameter.
Actually, Wearable Presets are supposed to be able to maintain links between items in the scene. When I have tested it in the past it has worked but it has been a while since I tested it, so maybe things have changed. Don't think they were meant to change...
Anymatter, what version of DAZ Studio are you working with?
Thanks Josh, I had a feeling I was missing a preset but couldn't remember where to look.
hey there Josh, its the latest version 4.8. glad to know, but so far daz only allow me to save the erc links in the item itself, not between items. if saving inter erc link on conforming item is not possible i really wish we can do that in the future version. this can be easily done in Poser, Daz gotta keep one step ahead of it.
just found out how the erc actually behaves in daz.. ERC that link between figures is infact the result of daz mistakenly read the controlling parameter inside the slave figure as controlling parameter inside the master figure, therefore any changes in master value from one item will result in changing the slave value ondifferent item.
manage to trick daz by creating a fake parameter in slave figure and name it identical to the master parameter which is from other figure. the next thing is to create ERC between the fake parameter and the slave parameter within the slave figure itself. since no ERC interfigures involved, daz will maintain the ERC when save the item as wearable preset. the next time when the item is loaded, daz will mistakenly read the fake parameter as master parameter instead , and so, ERC interfigures is created!
It isn't mistaken, it's by design - that's what i was referring to as auto-matching above. Poser used to do this "cross-talk" across all-figures in the scene, which was useful for conformers but a pain for two separate figures with the same moprhs; DS does it deliberately but restricts it to fitted-to items so that we get the benefit of morph matching without having different figures override each other.
ok i see... really dont know how well the program do their job with ERC. since in poser its a quite straight forward process i might just roughly conclude it is a bit more user friendly. infact poser(latest version) does the same thing by restricting the ERC to be active only after fitted to correct figure. daz might have some other great features but as suggestion, i wish it can save all ERC regardless of within figure or between figures, in the next build.
Out of curiosity, what if you are using a controller on two objects (instead of clothing on a figure)?
For example, setting X-translation of object#1 to control X-Translation of object#2.
If I try to save both as prop/assests and then scene subset, I lose the controller link between the two objects when I re-open the scene.
