Hi guys,

I'm rendering an animation and need a transparent background. I've tried rendering png & tiff image sequences but I always get the view port color as the background. Any ideas?

cheers - lucia

What are your render settings? You usually need to use 3delight to get an alpha channel.

Richard thanks for the quick reply. I'm using 3Delight in DAZ3d Studio 4.0 Pro rendering to a tif image series . I've attached a screen cap of my settings. I've also attached one of the tif frames complete with white view port backgound. This site won't let me attach the tif so i converted it to jpg but the tif has the same white non-transparent background.

    cheers - lucia

I just tried in 4.5 and like you I got a solid background. The good news is that there is an alpha channel in there to use as a mask, though that's not automatic of course. A PNG does seem to have a transparent background from the outset.

Right - it looks like png works - thought that I tried that last night but evidently not.

    thanks Richard
