Adding text/captions in DS?
I like to add (supposedly) amusing captions/text to my renders sometimes. But the software on my new computer is either too fiddly/time consuming or doesn't do what I want. I tried adding text in GIMP but I haven't learned all the stuff about layers and so on, and don't have the time/patience at the moment. So I wondered if there's any way of adding text in DS? Actually in the render itself perhaps? Below is an example of the sort of caption I mean.

You might be able to do something with the LIE (Layered Image Editor) but you would still need to create the text in a 2D program.
It should be a simple matter to add text in Gimp, using a new layer. I am sure there are tutorials for just that, and it would be by far the easiest way to do it.
You might find this useful:

I'll have another look at GIMP. Another option that I've thought of is to use the text as a texture on a plane. Although that might be pointless...
Yes, you can put 3D text objects in DS. The SharCG web site has a couple of free 3D text object font sets you can use in your DAZ scenes.

Or, you can make your own 3D font set using a modeling program such as Hexagon or Blender to convert 2D fonts on your computer by extruding them into 3D objects. It is not hard to do. Then you can use any fancy font style to get whatever effect you want in your scene with whatever materials or lighting effect you like. I have done it often. See logo I created for a local Maker group. I have even made my own 3D Word Balloons for a Comic Book effect. Try it!
However, depending on what the purpose of your text is, you may find it easier or faster to just use an image editor to put 2D text over your 3D scene. A text imag on a plane is another way to go. Either way, have fun!
