Location of render cache? Daz crashed while trying to save a 12-hour render

I may have just lost 12 hours worth of rendering. After realizing the program was only at 51% on the render after leaving it for 12 hours overnight, I went to cancel and then save. But after I hit cancel, the program encountered a "Fatal Error."

I tried to follow Jay Versluis' advice to look in

  • C:/Users/yourname/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/render

for the render, but that folder is empty. I haven't restarted Daz.

Is there anywhere else to look, or did I really just lose that render?

  • That is the correct place, assuming you didn't move the temp folder (in Edit>Preferences) to another location.

  • Okay. Thanks. That's what I figured. It stinks that it's empty. I might just use Boost for Daz on this render since I don't want to lose another 12 hours to it.

  • (or I could do multiple passes, which I've done in the past, but I've got three interacting figures... Decisions, decisions.)

You did not set it to render separate images? I have lost a render animation the exact same way, when I went to convert it to "uncompressed", Daz crashed. Now I do it the separate image way and piece them together in Photoshop. Then I take the Photoshop exported file into Premiere to add music, text and such.
