Leg Warmer Boots - Gen 2 to Gen 3

I was wondering if it's possible to correctly fit the Leg Warmer Boots for Genesis 2 to Genesis 3.

When adding the boots using the auto-fit tool, and selecting "Originaly designed for Genesis 2" and choosing "Footwear", the boots don't sit right.

Even when adding the included pose, the boots just lock to the feet.

Do I need to change the parent to a different part?

 

I'd really like to use these boots as there are none other like it.
