The CyberDream Karla 2.0 for Genesis 8 Female and CyberDream Karla 2.0 Textures and Accessories Add-On were two of my earliest purchases. Being a guy who loves the cyberpunk genre, these really sang to me. Much to my sadness at the time, there was one prop, the implant on the accessories add-on, that didn't load with surfaces at all. Per DIM and the support notes, you fixed that yesterday.

Only you didn't. Every single .duf in that product now leads to invalid folders/file names and won't load at all. I went through and fixed the file names it was searching for and couln't find, and that helped in the short run - for everything but the implant, which still loads as a tiny grey square primitive with no surfaces.

You put in the effort, I thank you for that. You didn't have to, you already got my maybe a dollar or two royalty for it, and that's not much. But I'd love it so much if you could look that over again, because that's the one part I thought was the coolest.

  • Moved to technical Suppor as it si not a Daz Studio question.

How do you install? That sounds like a typical failure of Connect (installing through Daz Studio) which is used, if prsent, in preference to any Install Manager instalaltion.

Nope. Through DIM. I even uninstalled the old first and cleaned out the remaining files. You go to load in the prop, it says "can't find asset.file," and when you look at the file location, the file name is structured asset_version.file. Take the version number off, it loads, but it still does the old thing where it's just a gray square with no surfaces to edit.

  • I uninstalled it again, made sure there were no residual files again, and tried to load it again. It shows right off the bat which files it's looking for. So I browse to those file locations and nootice that there's subfolder Nathy Deisgn and subfolder Nathy Design. Both of those have subfolders Nathy Design. I went ahead and fixed the spelling and merged everything from the repeating subfolders. Mind you, that got rid of the error messages, but it still loads in just like this.

  • There were also file name corrections. The file Cyberdream Karla Implant.dsf was listed as Cyberdream Karla Implant_438.dsf or something like that, and I fixed the filename to match what it was searching for.

Of course, fixing the folder name breaks the whole rest of the package because it's looking for assets in the misspelled folder. (edit: but the implant still points at the name spelled correctly, but that folder does not exist. I create said folder in Nathy Design and move implant assets from Nathy Deisgn) So I nuke it all, reainstall it, and move only the missing part. That restored function to everything else, but the implant still has the same problem.

  • Basically, the file targets are a clusterfudge, it's beyond my expertise to fix it.

If you look in Smart Content under product, and find the product, can you then right-click and select Uninstall?

You mean the same way I uninstalled and reinstalled it twice so I could do all that demo stuff? It's been the same problem since I bought it back in February, at least that one part, and I've flushed my library completely in between then and now.

If you are logging in to DS thus allowing DAZ Connect to call the DAZ servers and download metadata "updates" and maybe unintentionally also installing assets/updates, while you are also installing products and updates with DIM, everything will be installed twice to two separate locations with the DAZ Connect installed products/updates taking priority over the installations made with all the other methods (DIM/DAZ Central/Manual installation)

Set your DS for off-line mode by setting the Startup options as in the attachment, and uninstall everything in 'Smart' Content that gives you the option to do so.

Logging in to DS and working in Online mode is needed only when one chooses to use DAZ Connect within DS as their primary means of installing products, and in that case there is no sense in using DIM or DAZ Central to install them.

I don't have this product but a common occurrence is that if you installed through the DAZ software (the smart content pane/Daz connect) then that copy will be stored in a cloud library within your computer and that copy will override anything you install through DIM.

Update: Just saw PerttiA's answer. That's what I meant as well.

I don't use Daz Connect. I addressed that after the very first response. I used to, but haven't in months and have flushed every last Daz folder before re-downloading everything through DIM alone. There is nothing checked in that portion of startup and hasn't been since I last installed Daz from scratch - via DIM.

If all you did was delete the cloud folder that will not remove it from the database, you must reset the database then re-import the meta data.
