Krow is a character set that converts Genesis 8.1 Male into a Horrific Alien Bird Creature.

A boney beak, bird-like feet, and a feathered mohawk give this character a truly unique look. This character was designed with ultra-realistic skin techniques, using the DAZ PBR skin shader.

Nice! Thank you so very much, RawArt!! I especially like how you also got his hands and feet to naturally match the evolution alieness of the figure.

I've been looking so long for a easier way to make characters like from the Star Trek-Animated franchise, like the Aurelian/Skorr:

I've got plenty of wings to choose from to graft onto him to begin creating and using this fellow!

    Definitely getting this!! laugh

  • Does Krow have teeth? In the close-up, I'm seeing some.

Yes he does have sharp little teeth

Thanx...the legs have two options, one bird like the other humanoid

Thanks, Raw.  This is something I wanted.

I know the time vs payoff concerns, so don't consider this a complaint, but I would be even faster to buy a female version of this one.  I'm still buying him and I'll use him with cross-gender morphs for the characters in mind.  Honestly, it's not like bird people should have significant human-type secondary sexual characteristics, it's just a wardrobe issue more than anything else.

Female creature characters need to be somewhat pretty (in their own way) so sell......this guy is hard to make pretty LOL

  • It's a bird, so you could just adjust a few morphs or scaling (apparently in American crows at least the male is larger) and call the result a female.

well...it really isn't a "Bird".....its an alien or creature with birdlike features

    I don't know, RawArt,

I picked your guy up in August soon after I commented earlier. TBH, I didn't care for the gut he had, so I put him working out in the gym for six or seven months....

...and now, even underneath all those feathers, you can see this bird is RIPPED! laugh

Wasn't hard to make pretty at all. Makes such a pretty bird, too! heart

For creatures and aliens with bird-like (or dragon-like) features, we should never be relying on the ubiquitous "bovine-udders-on-the-chest" to show it's supposed to be a female.

Instead, we should play around with things like Hip/Waist/Facial/Muscularity morphs to adjust, and possibly thow in various attachments (NO! Not just THAT!), for implying masculine/feminine genders. Although all my other posts said that I'm aiming to recreate T'Char from the Animated Star Trek episode "Jihad", the models I made above were actually sculpted to be potentially a female Skorr. To make the bird a male, I would just dial down the "Hourglass waist" and "Hip size" settings.

wow...that is a very bright character LOL

but it does look like the one you referenced...cool

There's another good picture to reference--possibly same or related species, but at least a different individual from the TAS episode, "Yesteryear". This one shows substantial variations related to body features and head details, as well as giving good views at how delicate their limbs appear.

I made great progress approaching this with my latest adjustments. Fortunately, many of the morphs I have for modifying the arms and legs to be thinner still work with him.

Raw, believe me, there is absolutely NO criticism against you! You clearly put a lot of logical thought into designing Krow and did a fantastic job creating him. It really shows in how much I’m able to approach the Skorr characters’ by using him. I REALLY, REALLY appreciate Krow!!

There was one final concern I had while I worked on the figure this morning. The Trek characters’ legs are anthropomorphic digigrade with bird talons in place of the toe pad. Also, they’ve only got the three toes pointed forward with no rearward grabbing toe, whereas Krow’s bird feet don’t have any ankle joint, as well as four toes going out in all directions. I thought that I was just going to have to compromise and accept this as my “close-enough” moment….

(btw, I'm not counting the 5-finger hands in this screenshot as a "problem"--that was the result of animator errors. That episode had the same character with 4-fingers throughout much of the film, and even one scene where both his hands and forearms were entirely gone!)

Now, while you may have not intended for designing Krow to allow for those last features, believe it or not, your bird was very kind to me and has been VERY cooperative!

He even stepped in to give me a hand with it.

    Check this out:

TBH, I think Krow likes this look, too! laugh
