Duplicate formulas

Okay, I know there are a few topics on this already, but that seems to be with morphs. My issue is I'm not only getting this error when I try to load a character for G8, but also when I try to load the G8 base figure. I have no idea where the log file is to even begin to look for what's going on. The only log file I found didn't seem to contain the information. I need to get his fixed quickly because I have a paid project that needs to get done

In the log file you can search for Duplicate to locate the lines with with errors.

    search turns up nothing

nevermind. think i found it. i'll see if removing the perpetrator fixes it

    Good luck.

The most obvious effect is the slow load times.

More inobvious is the potential cross talk with unrelated dials.

  • HellcatHellcat Posts: 98

well that resolved that issue, but now when i load a character, they are severely deformed -_-

  • Jason GalterioJason Galterio Posts: 2,562

Is the character and out of the box character or one that you made while getting the errors?

  • HellcatHellcat Posts: 98

out of the box. just check the base G8F figure. don't recall her being so flat-chested

  • Jason GalterioJason Galterio Posts: 2,562

One thing you can do is look at what morphs are currently dialed in. Sometimes when dealing with these errors, one of the packages will be saved with non-zero values that effect the base character. If you bring up the parameters for the base, then select "Show Used" you might the one with problems.

Otherwise it might be that one the characters you had installed did have this non-zero value and you didn't notice until now.

Any issue like these will affect all instances of the figure when loaded, including the base.

The deformation may indicate that when you (I assume) removed one of the morphs with the same name you didn't do a full uninstall of the product and have loose modifiers thata re now triggering when they shouldn't. Either that or you removed the morph that was loading, leaving the previously locked morph with the same name free to load and it is defective with an over-active corrective morph.

the one that was messing things up was some freebie. so do i need to track down all of its folders?

Yes, at least eliminate that as a possible casue. use the Zip structure as a guide.

It doesn't help you now, but I always install testing items to their own content directory. That makes it easy to remove them if things go south.

If I do keep something installed longer, I isolate it with a couple of other products like it. And keep the archives in that content directory too. This way I can wipe the contents and then unzip them selectively to clean things up.

    would reinstalling G8 possibly help?

No, because the problem is not with the G8 Starter Essentials, but something you have installed on top on G8 (characters, morphs)

Almost certainly not, it's add-ons that are causing the issue (or possibly an add-on).

since my original post on this top i made a bit ago has vanished, i am posting again. this started as a duplicate formula issue. i removed the cause of that, but now when i load a character, even the base G8F, they are all deformed (flat chest, skewed facial features, ect). when i try to dial in breast size morphs, they look like a pair of socks with a tennis ball in each of them. i can't really make sense of the log file to see what needs to be fixed, but there are a lot of warnings in it. if someone can have a look and help me out, i will appreciate it

Those three files are likely the cause of your issue, to show in the log as loading deltas on a base G8F, means they have a non zero "value" in the DSF file. As a result every time you load G8F/G8.1F or any character based on them, then those three morphs are going to be loaded fully dialed up in all of them.

Remedy - uninstall the products those files are part of, or figure out how to edit said files and change the "value" to 0.

This Anya character would also cause issues if it worked, basically it's a broken product, it has a bunch of errors earlier in the log, but those I've listed means it's trying to load the morphs, but it looks like someone tried a spot of manual editing and made a mess of things.

Try botched most (if not all) of them.

Vast majority of the errors in that log are about the same thing, Formulas looking for a lHeel bone and a rHeel bone, those two bone names don't exist in a Genesis series figure.

I love reading a log file, when you know the errors and what causes them as well as I do, it's like reading a really good joke book.

The lHeel bone and rHeel bone show up a lot in my log. Can I just delete them from the referenced character dufs?
