problem rendring picture : difference between DAZ studio 4.16 vs 4.20

flylupusflylupus Posts: 29

Hello,

I'm using 4.20 and 4.16 Daz Studio

But when I compare the same scene, with the same render settings.

It seems the picture on 4.20 is worse than on the 4.16 and it gives semi-transparent image

I use just a spotlight as a source (default settings).

best regards

Please crop the images to not show the breasts.

Are the skin surfaces using spectral SSS?

Iray is still in its infancy compared to most other renderers. Between DAZ 4.16 and 4.20, there were a few updates to the Iray engine. I don't know what the explanation is for the difference your comparative renderings show, but I would say it's normal to see changes after so many updates.

I'm afraid you'll have to change some parameters in your scene to get closer to the result you had before. But indeed this alpha on the whole image is really weird. Never saw that before.
Adapting to the evolution of rendering engines is unfortunately part of the job ;)

Which version of 4.20? The partial transparency was a bug in the early versions that I'm pretty sure was solved quickly, so you might try grabbing the newest version.
