I get a mask. Why do I get a mask?

Playing with Feng Adelia and Oso Textured Hair. After applying a preset (the one highlighted in the attached image but it's the same with the others) instead of the hair changing length and being ready for simulation I instead get added geometry. Happened with no other character I've been using before. So what is happening and how can it be rectified?

    I don't have the product.

    But Oso Textured Hair is from some time ago, and before G8.1, so my guess is it has to do with the new UV layout for G8.1.

    You said it worked on other characters - does that include other G8.1 characters?

    The result you show looks very much like at one point you had the base selected and clicked one of the hair materials.

    The easy fix is to select the object Oso Textured Base, then apply the default base material ( Oso Textured/Partial Materials/OT Textured Base Default )
