I did a clean reboot and CMS does not start when I double click on it.

is your activity monitor set to show ALL processes, and did you start with the scripts? It wont start by clicking on it.

And, if you check the logfiles for the CMS located in the CMS directory, /Library/DAZ 3D/Content Manager Service
There is a folder named vlogs, in there are the logfiles from each launch attempt, it might give hints.

  • edited December 1969

First, there is no files in the vlog folder and I enclosed another screenshot showing activity monitor and what i see when I start DAZStudio

Also, you asked me if I start by scripts, so, because I dont know how to start by using a script, I suspect the answer is no.

I cant believe I am the only one having this problem on the entire planet. I wonder how everyone else is fixing this problem.

I used the new DAZ Content manager, so I assumed it loaded everything in the right place, but maybe that is not a good assumption. Where is smart content supposed to be loaded?

  • edited December 1969

OK, I went back into the blog folder and there are so many vlogs in there that it locks up my funder (spinning beach ball) every time I try to go in.....I mean there are millions of log files in there.....why so many?

Here is what the VLOG folder looks like and its generating another vlog almost every minute

It's pretty clear, it says "cannot open Master Database".
So, in the CMS folder, in Databases, can you show whats in there.

    You can use the terminal
    (1) Start the terminal
    (2) type ls -ls Post the results here.

I guess either the permissions prevents the CMS from being installed, or the database is wacked.
If wacked, uninstall the CMS, remove all traces of it, reinstall it (by installing latest DIM or DS), then in DS do "reimport metadata".

So, its pretty clear to you but whats not clear to me are your instructions.

    1. I am new to Macs and
    2. I am new to DazStudio

    But I followed your instructions:

Last login: Fri Jun 28 17:53:10 on console
    Tims-Mac-Pro:~ timwise$ ls -ls/Library/DAZ\ 3D/Content\ Management\ Service/databases
    ls: illegal option -- /
    usage: ls [-ABCFGHLOPRSTUWabcdefghiklmnopqrstuwx1] [file ...]
    Tims-Mac-Pro:~ timwise$

I said. you need a space between ls -ls AND the path, like this

    monster:~ totte$ ls -ls /Volumes/DazBoot/DAZ45CMS/Databases
    total 314944
    224 -rw-r--r--@ 1 root totte 114688 29 Jun 15:23 ContentDB
    2312 -rw-r--r--@ 1 root totte 1183744 29 Jun 15:23 ContentDB.blb

    monster:~ totte$

OK, your database is very empty. Nothing seems to have been stored there.
If you in DS try to Reimport Metadata, does it do anything?

so I am looking at my content manager and I dont see anything in my content manager that indicates that any of it is smart content. Isnt there some smart content that comes with DAZ Studio?

    What constitutes smart content???

Smart Content is content that comes with metadata, old content does not have metadata.

  • edited December 1969

how does one know what content has meta data????
