I have been taking a little bit of an art break, my Crohn's is in a major flare and I'm having to do weekly iron infusions to combat the anemia. I have had to do them in the past and never had any problems with them but this time around they must be using something different because the headaches are killing me and they last for days. I am one of those people that rarely get headaches and never something Tylenol can't take care of so this is really kicking my butt right now. Here are a couple of covers I managed to get done before the infusions started though, old artwork, new covers. Feeling better today so hopefully I can get some new art done tonight and tomorrow, Friday is another infusion, luckily others have said these side effects get better with each one because I have another 4 to go before my levels are tested again.
First cover is the best, close-up. The last one could use a bit of this close-up as well, the tiny figure doesn't look very menacing.
Sorry to hear about the ailments, hope you are feeling better Deanna. The Demon War is really crisp and vibrant!
Just sharing this link in case anyone needs it. This is print templates for books being printed through amazon's kindle direct publishing.

Excellent! Thanks for the link.
Hey all! Catching up again. I am not sure where the time goes some days. I've been knee deep in writing and promo art for a few months. I am finally almost done with my next Black Kat book and it's cover time!
I think this is almost done. I'm fighting the urge to add more, as I like the simplicty and movie poster feel to this. I'm getting ready to brand my series, which means redoing the font work on my first cover to match. I tried the words "Kat & Mouse" in a zillion fonts, this one looked the best, so I chose it for the series, as the other titles look good in it too. I'll be working on the next couple of book covers soon so I can get a uniform look.
ETA: Final version, I think it's good to go
@deathbycanon Wow, girl, you're rocking those covers! They are great!
Working on series branding now. It was painful to have to rework the first cover, but the original font I chose did not play well with some of my other titles. I'm learning.
@Llynara that looks fantastic and I love that font!
Thanks! That's good old Cinzel Decorative- free for commercial use! Very versatile font, I see it on quite a few books.
While these are completely fictional covers, I thought it would be fun to add my artwork to blank book covers and come up with some random titles :)
Artwork created with Daz / Photoshop and various painterly techniques.
This one is landscape, so no cover! lol :)

A friend of mine took a couple of my images and made mock book covers. She posted them at DA. If anyone is interested in taking a peek, I can provide a link to her gallery.
I'd never thought I could do a book cover until she took the images and set up the mock covers. I was asked when the book was being published. That left me wide-eyed. LOL
Those look really good @davidedwards.me Just what I might expect to see on hard back sci fi books, esp.
Really nice work @davidedwards
Wonderful work @davidedwards!
+1, especially the top two.
I'm not sure if it's because of camp nonowrimo or what but his month has been a very busy book cover month for me. Also just thought I would share a facebook promo I did for one of my authors. She bought a premade from me and later I read her story, I was just touched by a scene in the story and I really wanted to illustrate it. It had to be a vertical image , so not good for a book cover, but perfect for a facebook header. After I did the artwork I made up the header and sent it on to her as a gift. She was super excited and said she would be having me do another cover as soon as she has another book written.
Excellent customer service and really good looking picture.
I couldn't help it... silly but fun.
I am finally getting caught up on promos, and really really want to start converting some of my art into book covers. I've just got caught up on this thread so hopefully, sometime this week I can sit down and give one a go.
It's so fun, I really enjoy working with my authors.
I finished the Fate Chronicals this week, I did the E reader covers, the paper back covers and I did a box set mock up for him. Sort of sad that the story is over but he already sent me a prolog for a new book and I really liked it, so it will be fun to start something new.
@deathbycanon Nice work Deanna. I love what you've been doing. I think it's entirely possible that a lot of people participating in Camp NaNoWriMo are buying covers. I know I remember a while back someone saying that there was a marked uptake in covers produced in November. I think the camps are becoming just as popular.
Thanks @Knittingmommy
Here's a couple of my new ones. How's everyone elses book covers coming?
Gorgeous! Love the Wayward son in particular but they are all very good. As far as mine, pretty much non existent lol. I've got a folder with possibilities but just have not had time.
Both Wayward Son and Dragon Rider artwork have a larger than life epicness to them. You might want to consider different fonts.
I'm open to sugestions.
Font Squirrel website has commercial fonts with free to use license. On each page, the specific license terms are spelled out which is important to read and record. There are plenty of options that might offer possibilites. There's one called IMMORTAL that's particularly good for medieval type covers. And most computers have IMPACT installed by default. That's alway a good, go to starting point, it along with CORPORATE are very commonly used as title fonts so there is an established comfort with them.

Thank you for the sugestions!
@deathbycanon - just noting a typo on Dragon Rider; it should be "high fantasy at its best", not "it's best" -- there shouldn't be an apostrophe there.
Thanks, I have some neurological damage that still effects my typing. It's not as bad as it used to be - Shortly after leaving the hospital I was emailing a friend and telling her it was "raining" outside, when I looked back at what I had typed it said it was "wet" outside, I remembered spelling out the word raining in my head as I typed it so I was shocked when I went back and read it and it was not what I thought I had typed! And the word wet is so much shorter, where did all the extra letters go? lol Whole words don't get replaced by completely different words as often anymore but I still mix things like it's and its, here and hear, dear and deer and those are harder for me to catch in my own writing. Strangly when reading someone else's writing I can catch them just fine, or if I wait long enough I can catch them in my own writing, like after a post has already been up on facebook for three days. lol
Before hitting the post button, I read back what I type about a million times, this time where it says " when I looked back at what I had typed" where the word typed is it said read - the whole word replacement does still happen, and I still find it so strange.
I'm not too sure how successful this attempt is - it's a bit late for me to take stock. I've spent a lazy day drinking lots of really good tea while listening to some old Morcheeba albums and for some reason decided to try something a bit different. Anywho, as it's been and age and a day since I was here, I thought I would post and say "Hi".
