Morphing Business Suit

I just purchased this item and I can't find the morph sliders. Nothing but the generic XYZ translations show up in the parameters tabs. If anybody body knows where these morphs are hidden I would be greatly appreciative.

Well, pardon me Cris! As you can see I'm not a big poster so I'm not up to date on form edict. I see from your signature that you have a Daz store and sell morphing products. With this knowledge, I am sorry that instead of helping me you choose to chastise me.

Is it this one that you have? : http://www.daz3d.com/morphing-business-suit

Where are you looking for them, I don't have this item, but there should be morphs available in the Parameters pane with any of the items selected. Select one of the items in either the Scene pane or the Parameters pane, and then look in the Parameters.

How did you install this item, using DIM (DAZ Install Manager)?

    Yes Jimmy,

That's the one I have. I have used morphs before with other clothing, hair, characters, etc.. so I'm perplexed. I've drilled down through all the nodes and all I see are the generic X, Y, Z translations in the parameters. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and I have manually checked all of the files using the following reference and everything seems to be there: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/14945/start

I'm thankful for any help on the matter.

Make sure you use Genesis. Load all the pieces of the suit. Then you select the part of the suit you are interested in... ie for me its the jacket (just select the group name don't drill down). You should see morphs in Fixes and Layering category and also Style and Movement shown in my screen capture. Make sure you don't have a filter in your parameters search field that might obscure the sliders. I have the bundle so there may be some additional sliders from the addons you might not have... I'm not sure what just comes with the basic suit.

Thank you for the response MrPoser, I did as you said but I'm still not seeing any available morphs.

You may have Genesis selected in your scene... select the jacket then switch to the parameters tab.

I wish it was that easy. As you can see here I have it selected.

You should be seeing three groups of morphs for the SMSJacketG. If the morphs are missing, check to see if Install Manager installed them.

Go to Install Manager, select "Morphing Business Suit", Right Click and Select "Show Installed Files".

Do you see the jacket morphs listed as in my picture? If they are "ghosted", it means the files are not installed for some reason. Uninstall and re-install the product checking to see if the morph files are installed like shown in my picture.

    Thanks Lindsey,

I have reviewed the DIM log and all the files appear to be installed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and have also manually checked the files, browsing to the actual directory and they are all there, about 10KB each. It's 4 AM for me now. I'll try again tomorrow when I'm fresh.

Thanks to everybody for trying to help me and I hope you don't mind if I bump this thread tomorrow if I'm still having problems.

Please post the Installed Files list from DIM, showing the destination folder at the top (as in Lindsey's second image) and also your Content Directory Manager in DAZ Studio (Edit>Preferences, Content Library tab, Content Directory Manager button) with Current>DAZ Studio Formats expanded to show its list of folders.

OK, I found and fixed the problem. I had recently installed a new drive and I had messed up the installation paths. Some how I ended up having half the files on one drive and the rest on other. I'm embarrassed I didn't see that right off but in my defense E: and F: at 4 AM in the morning look pretty similar. Thank you to everybody who responded! I'll try not to panic next time.:red:

There was no chastisement intended. It is against forum policy to post the same topic in more than one forum. We did, however, offer to move the thread if you decided you wanted it in a different forum from where we merged to. Please understand that when the same thread is basically posted in more than one place, it can lead to confusion when people think they saw information and don't remember which of the threads they posted in. It also means there is duplication of information or information posted in one and not the other. For this reason, we try to make sure information is easier to find.

Thanks so much for helping me understand. Keep up the good work Cris!

  • I'm having a problem with the suit as well - specifically the pants.  I can put them on, move them around, shade them, render them, everything's great.  But if I save the file and the open it again, they have giant fly-away nodes coming off the pants making ugly triangles all over the place.  Now, I've got it autofit to genesis 2 male instead, so that might be the cause, but it still shouldn't be happening.  So these days I just give him a new pair of pants every time I open the file, and copy the shader settings to the new pair.

    Any fixes?

It is the autofit, though. There have been changes in how that works since the suit was made.

You probably need to reduce the number for Smoothing and Collisions -- I seem to recall that it might be set to 20 and 10, or something like that, which is too much for the version of Studio we have now, as opposed to 4.5 or 4.6, which was in use when the suit was made. Try reducing Smoothing to 3 and collisions to 5 and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, try changing the smoothing from Base Shape Matching to Generic.

  • Yep, smoothing defaults were much higher back then and it's showing its age.  Set smoothing down to prime numbers that are smaller, like 7 and 11.

    Why prime numbers?

  • Hmm.  Smoothing 3 made it tolerable, though the crotch still had problems.  0 seems to look ok - is there a reason not to use 0?
