AMD vs. Intel CPU

We know that when a Daz scene exceeds the GPU memory, it reverts to the CPU. I fthe CPU is an AMD CPU, will that fail to render also, or just render really slowly?
For the purchase of a new machine, is there any reason to purchase an Intel over an AMD CPU or vice versa?

Can AMD CPU work with IRAY? - Daz 3D Forums
I have an AMD Ryzen 5800x and it works well with IRAY and other apps. I went with AMD because of their CPUs draw less power, run cooler, perform as well for the $$, and cost less. The AMD 5900x is a steal right now at $400.

I had an Intel cpu and switched to AMD a few weeks ago (5950x and 128GB RAM).
I was in the middle of a project so have been rendering the same scenes/characters/set.
I have noticed zero difference in the render times once it switches to GPU (which makes sense), but the loading of everything at the beginning of rendering which relies on CPU/RAM is insanely quick so that's appreciated.
