Default HDRI loads in scene when I only want Sun-Sky

I want to render a bunch of scenes using Sun-Sky as the primary lighting, but I also have some spotlights. So I have my scenes set to render with "Dome and Scene" and I set "none" as the Environment Map.

The problem is that whenever I load up the scene, the default HDRI (DTHDR-Ruins) image is loaded into the Environment Map. I want these scenes to be set up to render using Render Queue, so this is preventing that from happening.

Anyone know how I can get a scene to load without the default HDRI?

There are only 4 settings in the environment tab. Sun-Sky setting will only work alone, unlike the dome setting which can be used with scene lights

Dome and Scene with no environment map gives Sub And Sky plus scene lights.

Yes, but if you save the scene and reopen it, DS puts the default HDRI back in. I reported this as a bug many months ago (in DS 4.15).

    Request #375378

Scenes saved with no HDRI image reopen with the default Ruins HDRI loaded

Not quite. Use the "Dome and Scene" environment mode, then delete the environment map (set it to "none") - and you get the Sun-Sky controls. And scene lights are still working.

Practically a Sun-Sky-Scene environment mode. wink

That only works until you save the scene and reopen it. Since version 4.15, DS puts the default HDRI back in when a saved scene is reopened. That makes it impossible to use this technique with queued renders. That is what the original question is asking about. I know no workaround for this problem.

Yes, this is a bug, and I'm annoyed that it's still not fixed. I use sun-sky + scene lights regularly so I run into this all the time.

At least if you load such a scene and delete the "Ruins" default HDRI, it goes back to the exact sun-sky setting you saved before.

That won't help you with queued renders, but at least you don't have to adjust your sun-sky settings anew.

So it is a bug. I figured that someone had a way around it, but not yet I guess. Thanks for clearing that up at least!
