Surface color problem?

I'm trying to recolor some socks to black but no matter what I do it ends up grey?

-Removed the UV

-Recolored the UV black in Gimp

-Set every surface color setting I could find to black.

But I end up feeling grey, can anyone advise on this?

What render engine are you using?

For Iray it is the image in 'Base Color' you need to modify.

Yes and yes, normaly that does the job but it renders grey no matter what I change.

Even loaded some other black shaders but it just comes up grey.

Other than those on the surface tab are there any other settings?

Its weird that it comes up with the same grey every time.

Otherwise are there other foot sock models around?

Try to do a screenshot of your surface tab.

    Okay, I reloaded everything.

First screenshot is settings for default sock surface settings.

Second screenshot is one of the socks UV off and ambient set to black.

Third screenshot render of both socks for comparision.

Render setting default factory Iray etc.

Apologies I changed the Diffuse color to black as all of the other color settings where already black.

Your surface setting is 3DL, not Iray.

You should apply the Iray Uber Shader to the surface, that will change it.

Also, what happens if you click on the image and choose None, and set the color to red?

Your right about it not being Iray, as it was a Genesis 8 piece I assumed it was already Iray (my bad).

Once I added the Iray Uber Shader & changed the glossy Color to black it finally worked.
