I give up. Where did Install Manager install Michael 4 3D Model Pro Suite?

I just purchased Michael 4 3D Model Pro Suite and used DAZ Install manager (for the first time) to install this product. Unfortunately, when I open DAZ 4.7 Pro Edition and look for the new content, nowhere does the M4 Base appear. Where is it?

Searches for M4, M4 Base, etc., yield nothing--nothing happens when I enter those search terms.

Browsing through My Library I can find various M4-related products that have been installed, but no M4 Base for me to get started with. Where is the base figure? And why is it so hard to find?

BTW, Install Manager confirms that all the Michael 4 3D Model Pro Suite has been downloaded and installed, but again the question is where?

Thanks.

Look in Content Library (not Smart Content), under Poser Formats...

Thanks for the reply. M4 isn't in Poser content, but after some research I found that M4 Base had been installed in:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

I added that folder to DAZ Studio, and then browse to what I think is M4 base, but when I try to open it I get this error:

    ---------------------------
    PowerLoader : Critical Error
    ---------------------------
This script is not intended to be run standalone. It is intended
to be run as a result of loading an ExP enabled "Michael 4"
based figure from the Content tab. Rename this file to match
the name of the intended .cr2 to continue.
    ---------------------------
    &OK;
    ---------------------------

What does that mean? See the attached screen shot for more info.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the post fixmypcmike, but it doesn't appear to have any bearing on my setup. Can you take a look at the screenshot from my previous post and tell me what's wrong? And take a look at the screenshot attached to this post. I'm mystified.

    Thanks.

You should not have the folder named "Runtime" listed as a content folder -- you want the path to stop at the folder CONTAINING runtime, in both "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats".

Can you just tell me how to browse to M4 Base, i.e., load the M4 Base figure? I'll then take it from there.

Content Library > Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Figures > DAZ People

Thank you fixmypcmike. Unfortunately, I have no "Figures" or "DAZ People" subfolders in my "My DAZ 3D Library." (See attached screenshot).

    Suggestions?

    Thanks.

With anything you purchase from the store and have installed using DIM, you can also click on "Products" in the content library and browse by first letter of the product name.

I tried that initially and while the new M4 products showed up, nothing happened when I clicked on them, like it was just an FYI sort thing. Maybe I missed a step.

It may be that what you clicked on was a pose or texture, which won't do anything if M4 hasn't been loaded yet. I prefer to have the file extensions visible -- Poser format objects have file extensions of .cr2, .hr2, or .pp2; Poser extensions .pz2, .hd2, .fc2 won't do anything if the object isn't already loaded and selected.

I still don't understand ANY of this. @_@

If it makes you feel better most of us didn't understand any of it at first either.  Don't hesitate to ask questions and read any and all of the threads in the new user portions. Eventually it will all click. And come over and join the new user contest thread, you will pick things up twice as fast if you join in.  or just read along.

  • DIM is tricky. I realized some of my products weren't working because it was installing to a *similar* directory to my desired content directory, specifically C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My DAZ 3D Library\ instead of where all my old content was: C:\Users\Tako Yakida\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\. It got to the point where sometimes props I created on my own would load their textures, and sometimes not. This was fixed when I merged both directories and corrected where DIM was installing. See screenshot below on how to change this.

DIM is not doing anything that you the end user aren't allowing it to do.  If you don't open up the preferences and change the default install locations that isn't DIM's or DAZ Studio's fault.  I like that DIM is just a simple download and install manager that doesn't try to think for itself.

  • DIM is tricky. I realized some of my products weren't working because it was installing to a *similar* directory to my desired content directory,

It's not really DIM that's tricky, it's DAZ — they changed the default installation folder DIM uses for D|S content, then didn't really make it plain what that meant. Adding to the fun, DIM and D|S don't talk to each other about setting content locations, so you must check before you start installing content that all the folder location settings in both programs agree with each other.

One of the more common glitches is DIM installing content to its default location, and D|S looking for content in its default location. Both programs are working as designed, there's just this little hiccup where they ignore each other.

  • Guys, despite M4 now working right here......COULD one still use Hiro4?  I ask because I really want to to get him, but I'm too scared now that I'm going to make a voodo doll of whomever is coding these installation locations and then jam a pile of needles in its behind :P

Please don't keep spreading your questions over multiple threads - it just leads to people wasting their time going over questions and suggestions that have already been covered.

Pardon me. What you say is correct. I meant tricky as in "you have to know what you're doing with it", not in the sense of "sneaky". Pleave forgive my Engrish :)

Couple of years ago I worked with Male and Female Anatomy Bundle and Michael4 and Vicoria4. After installing again I can load all the anatomy stuff (Pose Formats - Daz Connect - Figures - DazAnatomy/DazSkeleton) but I can't find the actors of Michael/Victoria Base. Used Install Manager.

  • Daz Connect should not be used for ExP figures like Michael 4. Items installed with DIM will be under Poser Formats>My Daz 3D Library>Figure>DAZ People (for Michael 4)

  • bjkbjk Posts: 3

But under Poser Formats there is only Daz Connect and an empty map My Library

  • Ah, then you need to add the My Daz 3d Library - assuming that si where DIM is installing. Right-click on the Poser Formats heading, then select Add Runtiem Directory from the menu. Browse to and select the My Daz 3D Library folder in your Public Documents folder. You should then be able to find the missing items.
