Is it possible to save out a scene so it can be rendered on a separate machine.

Is it possible to save out a scene so it can be rendered on a separate machine without installing all the content.

Like saving a scene in OBJ. format or something and just rendering that on another machine. I don't know if OBJ would work. Something that would export the raw polygon and shader data in a static scene that I can render in daz on another computer.

I want to do this so I don't have to lockdown my pc while rendering and continue working on other scenes to get ready for the next render.

Saving as an OBJ wouldn't be ideal, because OBJ doesn't preserve all the texture maps, so you'd have to essentially have to re-texture it, unless diffuse maps alone are enough for you. If you're planning to use DS to render, and both computers are yours, all you have to do is install DS and your content on the second computer, and transfer the scene files between computers.

  • or use a network and add your library over it, easier if on an external, enable sharing in permissions for that drive

One option would be to use content gatherer to get all files related to your scene and install only those on your rendering computer: https://www.daz3d.com/content-gatherer

Note that this product doesn't work with content installed with Daz Connect. (One of many reasons to avoid Daz Connect and use DIM)
