Script (or built-in?) way to check for differences between models

Morning folks,

I've been going through my WIP folder and cleaning out old incremental versions of projects etc, and I have a bad habit of not always working in the most current version.  Example: WIP_00 > WIP_01 > WIP_PosedTestRender....then I get in the zone and keep modeling on WIP_PosedTestRender even though that's not what the file is intended for...a few weeks go by..."Time to pick this up again!" and I return to WIP_01, oops.

Is there any easier way to check two models for differences than going into the Parameter Tab's Currently Used and clicking back and forth checking for the numbers to change?  It's not overly difficult, just time consuming and perhaps easy to overlook something when you use hundreds of morphs.  Alternatively, I've also occasionally used wireframe mode to check for the wires to diverge from each other, but that seems even easier to to miss tiny differences.
