Skin texture

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hello, new Daz3d user simply finding his way around. Whenever I render a scene to an image, the skin texture on my human models gets grainy like they're made of sand. Is it just me or does anyone else see that?

So I'm looking to get a realistic skin texture. If anyone can offer helpful advise it would be much appreciated. :-)

I've also seen renders that make models look like plastic barbie dolls so I'm hoping to avoid that too

How are you lighting the scene? Using the uberEnvironment Light or an ara light with lower quality settings will give graininess.

[Update] Tell a lie, there's still some graininess when I make close ups of my models bodies but not so much as there were before

I'm currently trying out the ready-to-render dragonslayer package that came with the program. It's set me with a left and right sidelight, an overhead glow light and an UberEnvironment2 1 light. So far that seems to have solved the grainy skin problem but the image looks dark

Hello Admins and thanks for replying. I've used the preset settings for Barefoot Dancer and that seems to have done the trick. I only had to format the render so I got a smaller image but at least my copy of Daz3d isn't crashing as much as it was. I think I still have a lot to learn but using Daz3d is becoming less like rocket science for me
