Any Good Modern Weapon Prop Packs for the Genesis 2?

I've been using Daz to help my with my figure drawing and comic work via making dynamic reference. I've been hoping to find a prop pack of modern firearms (handguns, revolvers, shotguns, etc) but so far my search has not been that well. It seems like the Daz3D shop has nothing but outlandish sci-fi guns or fantasy/medieval weapons. I've found a few handgun packs and the closet thing to other weapons has been this:

http://www.daz3d.com/the-firearm-pack

However, I'm unsure if it's compatible with the Genesis 2 figures or not. I heard Michael and Victoria were offshoots of the Genesis 2 figures so can someone tell me if I can use this pack with the Genesis 2 Figures or will I have to pay out the ass for Michael and Victoria?

Also am I typing in the wrong things or does the Daz shop just not have much in the form of modern weapon packs?

The actual objects...yeah, but the poses to position them properly, no.

Michael and Victoria are morphs/characters for Genesis2...but they are at version 6. That pack is for version 3/version 4....in other words, the pack is about 7 or 8 yrs old. While Genesis2 is about 2ish.

Crap. So is there anywhere that has modern weapons? So if I just get the objects I'll just need to position them myself within the Genesis 2 Model's hands and arms? A pain in the ass but better than nothing. Know where I can find any modern firearm packs?

Or maybe what I need to ask is if I get this weapon pack can I still use the weapons by themselves and just position them with the Genesis 2 models manually, or are they locked to only be used with those specific models?

Yes, you can use them...and the poses may be close...there are a couple of 'correction' poses floating around that you apply after applying an older pose that help correct the positions. Sometimes they work well, other times...lets just say pretty is not in the description.

Most of the weapons (pay and free) I know of are set up for V4/M4 at the newest...unless you want some 'blasters'/raygun type stuff. I can't think of any specifically set up for Genesis 1, let alone the current Genesis 2 figures.

So its doable minus a few pain in the ass issues? Okay then thanks for your advice.

Honestly Daz has been a pain in the ass with the whole "pay out the ass if you want any usability with it." I have no idea which figures are more ideal for what I'm using DAZ for and which ones I should get.

Note that the Firearms Pack is all in Poser format with DAZ|Studio materials. You will need to load the Poser props first, then apply the D|S materials otherwise things might look a bit weird when you render. (Shiny metals are one of the things that frequently don't translate well between the way Poser and D|S do materials.)

The hand poses matching each gun will also need a bit of tweaking — the default finger joint positions aren't quite the same between Genesis and the older figures, so the hand grip will be a bit off.

Oh sweet so there's other places I can purchase Daz models other than the shop here, thanks!

So I looked at some of this Mock guy's stuff, and some of the stuff I'm looking for says "Poser 4 and up" Are Poser and Daz figures and models interchangable? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to waste money on something I can't use. lol

You don't just have to look for DAZ or Poser guns, you can use .obj or .fbx models from a whole host of other sites and just import them using the File/Import option.

There are many sites that offer free weapon models in these formats and can be easily found with a google search.

This is a link to a good one that has many free weapon models...

    http://tf3dm.com/3d-models/weapons/1/obj

Most models will come with the texture maps but you may have to assign the map manually once you have imported it in to DAZ.

    I hope that helps...

"DAZ models" only means "things sold by DAZ" — it isn't a limit on which content the program can use. Studio was originally designed to use Poser content, and for a long time most of the available content was in Poser format. Most things made for Poser will still work perfectly well in DAZ|Studio, except dynamic hair or clothes. This includes Poser content from other stores.

Also, as I mentioned upthread, Poser and D|S materials are sometimes not very interchangeable; most new content sold at DAZ nowadays, even if it's in Poser format, frequently includes D|S materials.

"Oh sweet so there’s other places I can purchase Daz models other than the shop here, thanks!"
There are many places out there, including some with very good (but usually V4/M4) freebies. The down sides are, however, that you have to download them nauallly, unzip them to a folder and then transfer the files from that folder into your My Library folder. It sometimes means selecting individual folders as the structure of imports is often based around Poser or idiosyncratic. Then, having done all that, and assuming that you use the Content Manager and/or Smart Content system in DS, you will find that few if any of your lovely new figures, environments, props, etc. are visible that way. I suggest that you do what I have singularly failed to do - create a manual record of what you buy and then where to find it.....
DIM is so straightforward that it is hard to fault it but for some stuff you will have to go to other sources than the Daz website.

Incidentally, for all of the lack of accessories designed for G2 (and there are increasing numbers of them anyway) G2 is so superior to other figures that it is worth using it whenever possible. If you compare the amount of 'poseability' options for a G2 with previous iterations the flexibility is enormous. Of course, if you don't want that much control, then use older figures, but i have been astonished at the way I can manipulate my little G2 people.

There are many options and many ways to get what you want....The official DAZ site may lack in variety but they have a high level of standard/quality and I commend them for that, and at the end of the day they are a business and need to make money......that is fair.......I make a lot of my own stuff, but to save time I also get some models from free sites (sometimes I may need to edit them a bit), but on the whole they save time......but at some point, to get good quality, you are gonna have to spend money....for example, the G2M and G2F Morphing bundles.....without them you might as well be playing with Lego, with the same generic character.....with them, you can make anyone (almost).....but to get what you want, you can get a lot of it without money, you just have to jump through a few hoops to get it, but you won't have to pay through the nose for it..........I started down this path as an engineering draughtsman, designing floorplans for office buildings....everything after that was google, common sense and trial & error........google is your friend :) ...you just have to know how to talk to it and know how to ask for what you want.
