New content, db location - DIM wants to install DS and PostgreSQL again?

I have changed the db, content, manifest pathes in DIM and DS to a new location - but not copied the content or the db to those locations (I want to create a new, empty starting point).

When I start DIM it tells me to install DS and postgreSQL again. But both are already installed.

Any idea what to do in this case?

Are you sure ti is finding the manifests? Cancel that dialofgue and see if anything shows as installed. It is the manifests that tell DIM what it has installed, if you want to purge but nott o reinstall the applications then you need to copy those manifest files across. Note that, unless you use the check box at lower-left to turn that dialogue off, it will appear every time yous tart DS if even one of the components of that product set is missing.

  • I was sure, because I selected the path to the manifest folder via the DIM browse button. But please check the screenshot. There seems to be something wrong with DIM and how it handles a network path?

Ok, I have checked it. Network path in DIM does not work at all. Even though it shows some kind of path in the gui it is not using it. For some pathes it is using a local path in Program Files but showing something different in the GUI, for other pathes it is creating a folder on the local disc instead of using the network path.

    Example for the latter:

    GUI:     /192.168.1.1/Resources/DAZ/DB
    Reality: C:\192.168.1.1\Resources\DAZ\DB

So, instead of using the network path I have selected with DIM's browse function it is creating a path on the local disc without letting me know and without showing it in the gui.

Seems so, network pathes in DIM are a no go.

I am now trying with mount points in Windows.

  • Correct, UNC paths are not suported in DIM, Daz Central, or DIM so a mount point needs to be used.
