Lag when posing

When I go to pose a part of my model, daz is always lagging or freezing when I touch the slider, after a while it'll get smoother but it's like this everytime I touch a slider... is that normal? is there a way to fix it?

In the Draw Settings pane check the Subdivision Updates and Manipulation Binding. Also, is there a Smoothing Modifier aplied to the model - select the figuer (rather than a bone) and look to see if there is a Mesh Smoothing gorup in the Parameters pane under the Mesh Resolution group.

Export to Blender. Posing figures is buttery smooth, and using Rigify blows Daz's "soft pinning" IK out of the water.
When you encounter these performance issues or annoying lags, launch Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and select Start Task Manager

This check is useful, especially if we are doing 3D which requires significant resources.
You will see in real time if the problem you are having is with your computer.
I recently encountered a performance problem with a Second Life viewer.
After verifying that the problem was not with my computer, I reinstalled my viewer, and the problem disappeared.
Before taking corrective action, you must try to make several checks.
You said to check Subdivision Updates and Manipulation Binding, but you did not say what settings are "good" or "bad". Can you elaborate, please, with some suggested values?
If you are using Mesh Smoothing on any clothes, hair, accessories, etc., make sure Interactive Update is Off. Interactive Update is the worst viewport performance killer for me when it is on.
Delayed/Optimised should be faster than Continuous/Full.
Thanks for the settings suggestions, Richard.
Thanks for good suggestions, but sadly nothing has worked so far
I don't know how to use blender, I would prefer to do everything in Daz.

I find that fibre hair tends to slow down posing significantly and that making that hair invisible doesn't help. If you have figures with fibre hair, try removing it from the scene and pose again. Although I don't think that would be your whole problem as described.
What I do that helps is to batch-unfit the clothing/hair and set the sub-d to base (Low) and when done with the posing session, (save your poses that you want to puppeteer...) then batch-refit everything again when you have saved all of your poses to puppeteer.
That was the trick for me. Thanks!!
Sounds like hair to me. I used the Sea Salt hair on one model and couldn't use the sliders at all. Deleted the hair and everything worked fine. Some hair can be a nightmare to work with. Try deleting the hair and see if the problem persists.
Dforce hair is a recource hog. I usually switch to textured mode in the viewport when I pose models and after I am done go back to iRay to see the result.
Sadly, that lag happens even in texture view, and that with 64GB Ram, and an RTX3060 12gb card. The Sea Salt hair is an absolute monster.
Indeed, Textured mode doesn't really help nor does making the hair invisible while posing (although some argue that it makes some difference but if so, it is hardly noticeable). I also have 64GB RAM and I have an RTX 3090 with 24GB ... you'd think I would have a super-speed viewport but, sadly, not. At least my renders are quick.
In my experience, any dForce item is problematic and can cause a drastic reduction in the performance of your DazStudio, especially during posing. dForce hair is the worst, and can definitely wreck my software (I have a Geforce RTX 4090 with 24 GB of VRAM....). dForce clothings can be problematic too. The easiest thing to do is to hide dForce items during the posing, or avoid them entirely. Another thing that can create issues (to an extent) is the Mesh Smooting. Disable it during posing, then reactivate it before the final render if you need it to fix the position of some specific clothes on the model's body. Cheers, Gio
Very late to this but I have this issue as well on one of my characters using a dForce hair. If I select the hair and go into simulation and turn off Generate PS hairs the figure become much quicker to pose. Once I have everything set up and am ready to test render I turn that back on.
