Can I make this go away?

I don't know what it is called, but when you select stuff a box like thing appears on it with arrows and a circle. I know what it does, but I don't really ever need it. and especially when I've selected a figures face and am trying to pose expressions it gets in the way and makes it impossible to see things. Is there a way to turn that tool off or hide it?

    I think you mean the viewport manipulator widget. If so then try using another tool, such as the nod selection tool, surface selection tool or spot render tool (all from the Tools menu). Of course you will then need to switch back when you want to use the tool fro posing in the viewport.
