A problem with materials

I've run into a rather odd problem, I can't get anything with colors to show. Everything comes out as a basic grey, no skin, no clothing, even sets that worked fine just a few days ago are now grey and black. I've tried reboots, reinstalls, and anything else i can think of. the only way I've found that can add color is under the surfaces tab. I'm using the latest version 4.7 and its worked great up to this point.
Has anyone else come across this problem? I've glanced around and done a couple of searches and come up with nothing so far.

Can you post a screenshot?
And if you look at the little globe in the upper corner of the viewport, there's a little arrow...if you click the arrow, it will bring up a dropdown menu...select Texture Shaded.
I can NOT believe I missed that. I never changed the setting for that either so I'm not sure how it got changed. I use wireframe all the time for a better perspective, but nothing else. You figured out in minutes what I've been stressing over for over 5hrs now thinking there was some kind of flaw in the program. And I knew how unlikely that was too.
Thank You for the quick response. I'll consider this my big Newbie mistake and hope I'm more careful in the future.
Actually, it's pretty easy to accidentally change it...I hate the placement of of it. I've changed it way too many times when in a hurry to swap views to aim lights or something.
There are also shortcuts - cmd/ctrl plus a number key - that are quite easy to hit by accident.
Now that is a possibility, I was using Photoshop Yesterday and had both programs open. Ctrl-[Number] is one of the keyboard shortcuts common with PS too so i might have gotten them mixed around..
