I Want to Make My Own Clothes

I see many threads with info on this subject including those in the document center but too many links are dead that seem to have the juicy info. I would like to make my own custom clothes (and hair eventually) as I don't see anything in the shop that's useful for my plans. I use mostly Genesis 2 figures. I'm looking for a basic step by step tutorial to get me started.

This is the best tutorial I found so far but again at the end, the Youtube video is deleted

I'm not sure if that tutorial is even relevant to the gen2 figure. I notice many tutorials were made years ago before today's new features. What are the most popular tools used today to create clothes and other content like hair and accessories?

The program I will be modeling with for this purpose is Blender since it does have UV unwrapping capabilities.
