Need help migrating to new machine

I have an option to migrate Daz to a newer machine after a crash. I have two questions: On the crashed machine I have scenes saved with dialed characters not already saved (no objs or character presets, just present in the scene). Will these scenes and their inhabitants be accessible to me? If so, is it better to have the old machine migrated to the new machine or to an external hard drive? Ultimately, will I have to manually import everything into the new machine because it will be a new operating system and version of Daz? Thanks!

As long as have the "data" files corresponding to the scene file and not just the scene .duf you should be fine.
